Naked Eye Lyrics
naked is a state of mind
i take things off to clear my head
to say the things i haven't said
i live inside the elements
the earth and sky are my best friends
water is the evidence
that washes me from end to end
with my naked eye
i saw all the falling rain
coming down on me
with my naked eye
i saw all if i said it all
i could see
it's not a thought i couldn't take
something told me it was time
to give you yours and leave me mine
my vision started to be clear
i watched the sunlight coming near
i knew the day i knew the night
i knew i could regain my sight
and it feels alright x2
to break some ice and throw some stones
i asked if we could be alone
i had some troubles of my own
knew i had to say goodbye
to all the old things held inside
if i let the moment fly
i knew they'd all be magnified
you are nothing but a lark
know i snuck in like a narc
i knew i had to leave my mark
wanted to be satisfied
i tried to be dignified
wearing nothing is divine
naked is a state of mind

This song is definatly about being in a relationship and watching it fall apart. It's about getting out of a relationship and looking back seeing how it breaking apart. Assesing what went wrong, releasing and moving on.

I definitely agree about the bad relationship. She seems almost hesitant to bring up the problems because it will most likely lead to a breakup. In the end she realizes that if she doesn't address the issues she'll continue to dwell on the problems. "if i let the moment fly i knew they'd all be magnified" She seems to feel better about the closer she received. "Naked" is a great metaphor for honesty. "Wearing nothing is divine naked is a state of mind" Honesty with her lover, thus with herself gives her a warm glowy feeling of major accomplishment.
As a side note: I FREAKING love this song... Also (but completely unrelated): The version of this song I have starts with the chorus-jumps to "Last night I came into your home..." --"It's not a choice I tried to make..."--chorus2--"Came around after dark..."--chorus--"It feels alright." with "Naked is a state of mind." and the chorus. This is the first I've heard of the "Wearing nothing is divine..." verse.
I get hung up on the chorus and the bass.

it's a release

yeah of course, it's a fantastic song with a cool film clip, i love her hair!

i luurve this song...along with incubus's here in my room..if u like this song u'll like that 1

if u listen closely to the very intro to this song sounds like ...or reminds me of the movie texas chainsaw massacre...DONT ASK LOL

Reading the lyrics I think the song is not just about release, it's about sexual release. It sounds like she is visiting an old lover from sex in the last two verses, although it sounds like she is visiting him for the last time. Any thoughts?
@stoolhardy Could be, but the level of abstraction at least in my opinion transcends a trivial bad relationship scenario.

This song is about release from a bad relationship. (or at least that's what i get from it).
It's not a choice she wants to make, it's like the hopeless devotion when you know they're bad for you but you can't help yourself.
"last night i came into your home to break some ice and throw some stones" - perhaps they were having some hard times she intended to argue and fight and break-up then, but instead her lover's charm drew her right back in. I'm sure some of us have experienced this before.

If you've ever been a relationship with a true narcissist you'll know exactly what this song is about. It's about the fights, the craziness, the gaslighting, the tension, the lies, and the need for relief and quiet.
the naked eye sees the truth. but when one's vision is obscured, they stay in these f'd up relationships. she knew it was bad mojo, but she stayed with it anyway. the rain feels allright, because it's honest and real.
real pain is much better than fake pleasure.

It's about ending a bad relationship - there's nothing about remaining in it.
The naked eye is the clarity of realising that the relationship was bad. "Wearing nothing" and "feel's alright" are about the comfort of being out of the relationship.
