"I Can't Stop Loving You" as written by and Don Gibson....
(I can't stop loving you)
I've made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Dreams of yesterday)

Those happy hours that we once knew
Tho' long ago, they still make me blue
They say that time heals a broken heart
But time has stood still since we've been apart

(I can't stop loving you)
I've made up my mind
To live in memories of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday

(Those happy hours)
Those happy hours
(That we once knew)
That we once knew
(Tho' long ago)
Tho' long ago
(Still make me blue)
Still ma-a-a-ake me blue
(They say that time)
They say that time
(Heals a broken heart)
Heals a broken heart
(But time has stood still)
Time has stood still
(Since we've been apart)
Since we've been apart

(I can't stop loving you)
I said I made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times

(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life of dreams of yesterday
(Of yesterday)

General CommentI love this song. I smuggled a radio from a friend when I was in USMC boot camp. At the time I thought I had lost my fiancee for good, and I heard this song. It brought a few tears to my eye. Since then, things worked out, but this song still holds a special place in my heart.

General CommentI think this song was written by Don Gibson. The verses are great. The way that all the lyrics just kind of meditate on the idea of not being able to move on, and wanting to just sink into that feeling instead of doing anything about it. and yes, it hits pretty close to home for me too.

General CommentThis is a great song. I just resently heard it again too, it's in Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis, that was on Adult Swim a week or so ago. At first I tought it was a weird place for this song, you have to see the movie to know what I mean, but it really adds to the movie and is perfectly placed.

General CommentI know what you mean, lthaca1937. I've seen the anime and it's very well placed.

As for the song, I think this might be about not wanting to live without your loved one and willing to go back to her at any cost.
