Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand
Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy?
Heaven is in the palm of my hand and it's waiting here for you
What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy?

If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain the same?

Sometimes it's hard to hold on, so hard to hold on to my dreams
It isn't always what it seems when you're face to face with me
You're like a dagger, and stick me in the heart
And taste the blood from my blade
And when we sleep, would you shelter me in your warm and darkend grave?

If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain the same?

Will you ever take me? No I just can't take the pain
Would you ever trust me? No I'll never feel the same

I know I've been so hard on you, I know I've told you lies
If I could have just one more wish, I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes

If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever, will it all remain the same?

i actually thought it was 'warm and darkened cave' haha whoops on me i guess. i don't know how to really interpret this song either because songs can all be seen in different ways. but my view on it is it's a breakup song. i don't know though for sure. i just remember my ex played this song a bunch of times in the car on the day he broke up with me. :/ but it's still a beautiful song and one of my favorites. but the words stab me sharp.

    My Interpretation
(Firstly, I interpret this song as a truthful, inner-voice discussion between lovers or would-be lovers.) (Lita) Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy? (Her confession later in the song of lying to him is symptomatic here. She is fearful and unable to tell what is truth and what is fiction in her own mind/heart.) (Ozzy) Heaven, is in the palm of my hand, and it's waiting here for you What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy? (It is not exactly clear who had the childhood tragedy, but because he sings the chorus immediately following this question, asking how to cope, it implies that it is her problem with which he is unfamiliar or a problem that has been in his way for his whole life. ) CHORUS: (Ozzy) If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain unchanged? If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain the same? ( The chorus is the main lyric that makes many people believe the song talks about suicide. What if "close my eyes forever" is a metaphor for ignoring or forgiving? Then the song makes sense as a pair of lovers hashing out their issues.) (Ozzy) Sometimes it's hard to hold on, so hard to hold on to my dreams. It isn't always what it seems when you're face to face with me. ( The dreams he has for them don't seem to be working in the face of reality. He acknowledges they both have expectations of their relationship that are not being met in the other person.) (Lita) And like a dagger You stick me in the heart And taste the blood from my blade And when we sleep would you shelter me in your warm and darkened grave? ( She tells him "You hurt me and seems to me it is on purpose. You may be affectionate, but your heart is dark.") CHORUS (Lita) (Lita) Will you ever take me? (Ozzy) No, I just can't take the pain (Lita) But would you ever trust me? (Ozzy) No, I'll never feel the same....OOh... ( She asks if he could ever accept/love her. He says no. This may refer back to the "childhood tragedy." Whatever the tragedy is, one or both of them seems unable or unwilling to resolve it.) (Lita) I know I've been so hard on you I know I've told you lies If I could have just one more wish I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes ( She regrets her web of lies which she implies has blinded her from the truth and/or kept her from seeing his struggles. She is willing to give up her selfishness.) CHORUS: (Lita) (Ozzy) Close your eyes Close your eyes You gotta close your eyes for me (For us to make this work, you have to forgive ...)

i thought it was warm and darkened cave. haha whoops on me i guess. i don't know for sure either. songs can be interpreted so many different ways. to me it seems like a break up song. that's the feelings i get from it. i just remember my ex kept on playing this song in his car the day he broke up with me. therefore i think he was trying to hint me. Nevertheless it's a beautiful song and one of my favorites.

Also, they forgot: Lita: I know I've been so hard on you. I know I've told you lies. If I could have just one more wish, I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes. Ozzy (at the end of the song): Close your eyes (x2) Close your eyes for me.

This is an amazing love song. I think it's about a girl who was probably sexually abused as a child and a guy who really wants to be with her, but can't because of her psychological trauma. Here is my interpretation... (Lita) Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy - She is afraid because the abuse that she faced as a child has left her with the inability to trust anyone. She doesn't know if she really loves the guy or if she is just going to use him as a temporary escape. (Ozzy) Heaven, is in the palm of my hand, and it's waiting here for you What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy - He is telling her that he loves her, but she needs to let go of her past. He is also asking himself how he can show her that he is serious and that he's not going to hurt her like the people from her past. (Ozzy) Sometimes it's hard to hold on So hard to hold on to my dreams It isn't always what it seems When you're face to face with me - He is losing hope and his dreams of a happy relationship with her are dying. She seems to be two different people and when they are together, he never knows which one to expect. (Lita) You're like a dagger You stick me in the heart And taste the blood from my blade And when we sleep would you shelter me In your warm and darkened grave - She is very conflicted and is trying to let herself trust him and is still questioning whether or not he really loves her or if he is just playing a mind game with her. (Lita) Will you ever take me (Ozzy) No, I just can't take the pain (Lita) But would you ever trust me (Ozzy) No, I'll never feel the same - She has finally let go of her past hurts and is now in love with him, but after the years of trying to no avail to get her to this point, the guy has lost hope and can't be with her because his feelings have changed and they will never be what they once were. (Lita) I know I've been so hard on you. I know I've told you lies. If I could have just one more wish, I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes. - She is apologizing to him for everything and is in regret, wishing that she could go back and love him from the start. (Lita and Ozzy alternating) If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain unchanged If I close my eyes forever Will it all remain the same - This is saying, "If we just start over and forget everything that happened, will it be any different?" Then at the end where Ozzy says, "Close your eyes, close your eyes for me," he is saying, "Yes, I still love you, let's start over and try again." That is my 2 cents anyways. This is such a beautiful song and to me it is one of the best things that Ozzy ever contributed to.

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."

Alma Matters
Morrissey
The man has pseudo-friends who constantly criticize his actions. They moralize him, "teach" him and advise him to make a significant change in his life, because the way he is and what he does is not what they say it should be. They may find his life lame or immoral. They hold themselves up as role models. The man replies that he will make his own choices and decisions and he does not agree to unconditionally make himself under the influence of questionable quality advice. He justifies this by saying that there is always someone for whom he will be important, no matter what he does and no matter what he is. Although it is not said directly, I read it as meaning that he will always be important to himself in every way and he will always have his own support. "Everyone is different and maybe that's a good thing, but you exceeded that mark 1000 times" - I remember very well how sad the words I once heard (from my peers and it was in negative context) at school made me feel.
