Sometimes I feel my life is going 'round in circles
Beneath my eyes are bluish black
There's nothing new, no one I want to talk to
Nothing I want to think about, I got soul doubt

I stick my head out of the window, it's closed
Instead of air, I get glass stuck into my head
The city's sounding I can't seem to stop the pounding
Can't keep my thoughts from flying 'round
Can't keep my thoughts from flying 'round
Not sure what I'm thinking about, I got soul doubt

A shameless display, wearing a smile full of pain
A frameless Erte, a painting without a signature
She's waiting for someone to save her
As I pass her by I see Cinderella

She doesn't fit into a slipper
Like she fits in a bottle of liquor
There's no one to take her away

Her eyes meet mine, she sees right through me
The question is asked, Whatcha' gonna do for me?
I don't want nothin', just a connection
I gotta know what she's all about
Cause I know she's been there -
Soul doubt

I stick me head outside the window once again
This time I see a thousand faces all too clear
They wear the same expression, I've seen in my face
So many times, I know exactly how they feel
I know exactly how they feel
I know just what they think about
They've got soul doubt

This song is about depression. The first three lines are pretty much self explanatory on this issue. As is 'painting with out a signature.. etc." which means he is incomplete Cinderella is a prostitute. Mike feels that she will have the answers / the connection he is looking for because she is low as well. She is not the the perfect match (for the slipper) but "she fits in the bottle of liquor”, alcohol is a depressant so she fits just right when he is down, they suit each other. The ‘stick my head out of the window’ part is Mike being a smart ass, something he is world class at, but the undertones are that nothing really goes the way you want it to. Lyrically this is probably up there with the best NOFX songs, its flippant, serious and intelligent at the same time.

Yeah, this is very surprising nobody has commented on this really, less than I'd expect. Soul Doubt is underappreciated but very very true, if you didn't catch it by reading the name, it's a very obvious synonymical pun for "sold out." Very very cool if you ask me, especially the cool chorus type thing with layered singing.

Yeah this song is really a great song. THe live version has more solos and stuff, but the actual recorded song is clearer and has better quality.

i was so surprised only 5 pepole commented onthis. yeah i think this is a great song i love the album better than punk in drublic i sometimes think oooh contraversial hee. Well yes i had guessed that it meant sold out the first time i heard it!!! was it not so obvious then to others? ive just read the lyrics and you cant really make a meaning out of it there so random apart from him worrying about selling out??? fuck knows but it IS a fab song
