Put a candle in the window
'cause I feel I gotta move.
Thought I'm goin' goin'
I'll be comin home soon
long as I can see the light.

Pack my bag and let's get moving
'cause I'm bound to drift a while.
When I'm gone gone
you don't have to worry
long as I can see the light.

Guess I've got that travelin' bone
'cause this feeling won't leave alone.
But I won't won't
be losin' my way
long as I can see the light.

i'm about to travel across the country for something that will change my life, and i made this huge decision because of all the love i've known. thats the light man, it makes picking up and moving thousands of miles away ok. never ignore that feeling that tells you to get up and go, it's really telling you that its time to grow. thats exactly how i feel right now with one month to go- this soulful tune captures it all !

Gotta love the way he drags out some of the words at the end of a line(Window, move, etc.). Very unique song, and a beautiful song.

i think literally this song is about a guy who has to go away, maybe because he's lost sense of himself, but he wants to let his girl know he'll be back if she'll have him. so he says he'll be coming back, as long as he can see the light of that candle in the window that means she's still there for him.

this song is about having to go somewhere, to do something that you may or may not be afraid to do, and knowing that when you're done with that, someone will still be there for you. i helped a girl i used to be really close with move away from her home recently, and she's not gonna have things go easy for her anymore, not always gonna be safe in the near future. i told her that if she ever feels totally lost, doesn't know what to do, i'll always be there to fall back on. i'll always have a candle in my window for her. that's what this song has always meant to me, which is so weird, because it was playing on the radio when i said goodbye to her.

    My Opinion

Could be written to his woman when he goes on tour. Could be written as a man leaving for war.

It is absolutely about the underground salve route. The slaves moving north found safety from with the abolitionists signaled by a candle in the window

trying to explain the past, through Todays preception is a useless waste of your time. this song is about a time long gone, back when young men, men in general wandered in search of being, love, acceptence. he can't commit to this girl because 'he has that ol rammbling bone' meaning he's going to move on to the next anyways, but- will be back as long as he can see the light, from her candle in the window. dont over think rock and roll..in fact- think outside the box. a lot of these easy written tunes form 60s 70s were just that, easy written tunes from that period. sometimes songs mean nothing than whats written. over anylizing rock and roll is s joke in and of its self.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Trouble Breathing

While the obvious connections with suicide or alcoholism could be drawn easily, more subtly this song could be about someone who views the world through a negative lens constantly and how as much as the writer tries to show the beauty in the world, this person refuses to see it. It's one or another between the rope and the bottle. There is no good option for this person. They can't see it. Skiba sings it in a kind of exasperated way like He's tired of hearing this negative view constantly and just allowing that person to continue feeling the way they feel knowing he can't do anything about it. You can hear it when he says maybe you're a vampire.
