War Child Lyrics

Who will save the warchild baby
Who controls the key?
The web we weave is thick and sordid
Fine by me
At times of war, we're all losers
There's no victory
We shoot and kill and kill your lover
Fine by me
Warchild, victim of political pride
Plant the seed, territorial greed
Mind the warchild, we should mind the warchild
I spent last winter in New York and came upon a man
He was sleeping on the streets and homeless
He said "I fought in Vietnam"
Beneath his shirt he wore his mark, he bore the mark of pride
A two inch deep incision, carved into his side
Warchild, victim of political pride
Plant the seed, territorial greed

this song is so great. it can really make you feel what kind of sorrow and chaos goes through those at war.

As I have been told, this song is dedicated to a child, age 9 months, who was shot in it's mother's arms by a stray bullet during a recent war. (I am not sure which war) Why is there not a website for each band explaining the meaning behind each of their songs? This should be mandatory info.

stubblejumper, I thought I heard an inkling of this nine-month-old getting shot more in "When Will the Icicle Melt" more than in this one , but if you say so....

@clovis-pepin - No, that was about a baby dying after a melting icicle fell on it. The murderer chose this method because the evidence would literally melt away. Trust me, I have this story on the highest authority.

this is an amazing song. i don't know why more people haven't commented about it. the meaning of this song is pretty much simple. -at times of war, we're all the losers.

@boot_scraper - Sometimes simple is not that amazing.
