Seven deadly sins
Seven ways to win
Seven holy paths to hell
And your trip begins

Seven downward slopes
Seven bloodied hopes
Seven are your burning fires
Seven your desires

I am he, the born-less one
The fallen angel watching you
Babylon, the scarlet whore
I'll infiltrate your gratitude
Don't you dare, to save your son
Kill him now and save the young ones
Be the mother of a birth strangled babe
Be the devils own, Lucifer's my name

Moonchild, hear the mandrake scream, ow
Moonchild, open the seventh seal

I count the heads of those unborn
The accursed ones, I'll find them all
And if you die by your own hand
As a suicide, you shall be damned
And if you try to save your soul
I will torment you, you shall not grow old
With every second and passing breath
You'll be so alone your soul will bleed to death

Moonchild, hear the mandrake scream
Moonchild, open the seventh seal
Moonchild, you'll be mine soon child
Moonchild, take my hand tonight

The twins they are exhausted, seven is this night
Gemini is rising as the red lips kiss to bite
Seven angels, seven demons, battle for his soul
When Gabriel lies sleeping, this child was born to die, oh, oh

One more dies and one more lives
One baby cries, one mother grieves
For all the sins you will commit
You'll beg forgiveness and none I'll give
A web of fear shall be your coat
To clothe you in the night
A lucky escape for you young man
But I'll see you damned in endless night

Moonchild, hear the mandrake scream
Moonchild, open the seventh seal
Moonchild, you'll be mine soon child
Moonchild, take my hand tonight

    Song Meaning
***THIS IS MY MEGA METAL MENTALITY ON THIS MASTERPIECE*** Ok. This song is the opening title for the album "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". This album is a concept album that follows the life of the seventh son of a seventh son. In ancient times, this person was regarded to have powers such as clairvoyance. The character in the album expresses that he does not want these powers and that he never asked for them, however, he must live with them. He must pick which side he desires: the good or the evil, which path will he take (Seventh Son of a Seventh Son song lyrics). In this song, Moonchild, the person talking is the "devil" character. "I am he the bornless one The fallen angel watching you Babylon, the scarlet whore I'll infiltrate your gratitude Don't you dare to save your son Kill him now and save the young ones Be the mother of a birth strangled babe Be the devils own, Lucifer's my name" The devil wants the mother to kill her child (strangling him) so that the seventh son will not grow and defeat Lucifer, the devil character. "I count the heads of those unborn The accursed ones I'll find them all And if you die by your own hand As a suicide you shall be damned And if you try to save your soul I will torment you - you shall not grow old With every second and passing breath You'll be so alone your soul will bleed to death" Lucifer is saying he will kill all of the Seventh Sons. When he is talking about suicide, he is saying that if the Son kills himself, he will be damned to a life in hell. If he tries to escape the devil's hold, he will be tormented and tortured by the devil forever. "The twins they are exhausted, seven is this night Gemini is rising as the red lips kiss to bite Seven angels seven demons battle for his soul When Gabriel lies sleeping, this child was born to die" The twins, I believe refer to the Gemini astrological sign as mentioned in the next line. The seven angels and seven demons represent the question of whether he will choose to do good or evil. Gabriel is a reference to the angel from the bible who delivered Mary the news that she would give birth to Jesus. Since Gabriel is sleeping, there is no one to deliver the news. Therefore, the child will not die. "One more dies one more lives One baby cries one mother grieves For all the sins you will commit You'll beg forgiveness and none I'll give A web of fear shall be your coat To clothe you in the night A lucky escape for you young man But I'll see you damned in endless night" I believe this is the devil once more speaking about how the mother must kill the Seventh Son. When Harris (the writer) is speaking about all the sins the Son will commit and how he will beg for forgiveness but receive none, I believe, is saying that when the Son does wrong to the devil, but then comes crawling back for forgiveness, the devil will not take him and will damn him to hell. This web of fear is possibly referring to how the devil will torment and frighten the Son due to the fact that the son escaped his grasp and escaped him. Harris is then saying that the Son's escape was very lucky, but the devil will one day find him and make the Son wish he stayed with the devil. I hope I have helped :) UP THE IRONS!

The whole album is in reference to the book "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" by Orson Scott Card. Though I read some places that say only 5-8 tracks are part of the concept, the connections between this song and the book are PERFECT.

Obvious references to the birth of Alvin Maker, the seventh son of a seventh son from the orson scott card novel. "Don't you dare to save your son Kill him now and save the young ones Be the mother of a birth strangled babe Be the devils own, Lucifer's my name" The mother is pregnant with the child and one of her sons has to sacrifice himself to save her and the baby "The twins they are exhausted, seven is this night" Older twin brothers of the seventh son helped to save the family. "One more dies one more lives One baby cries one mother grieves" after the baby is born the oldest son, Vigor, dies soon after, the mother grieves over the death of her son.

The whole album is a concept. Moonchild- Lucifer comes to warn the parents of the Seventh Son, basically saying that all resistance is futile. Infinite Dreams- The Father of the Seventh Son, him self a Seventh Son, begins to have dreams that confuse him. Can I Play With Madness- The Father seeks a prophet for an answer to his strange visions. The Evil That Men Do- The Seventh Son is conceived, but the details in this song are very vague. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son- The Seventh Son is born, and begins to show signs of supernatural powers. The Prophecy- The Seventh Son learns that he is "The Chosen One", and part of a prophecy. The Clairvoyant- The Seventh Son begins to harness his powers, but loses control. This is probably the cause of his death. Only The Good Die Young- The Seventh Son is dead, and the cycle begins again. This may be a sentiment on how mankind is inable to learn from it's mistakes.

This is interesting... Iron Maiden aren't afraid to talk about the devil like this... just look at "The Number of the Beast"... I like how they can do this without taking the unholy black metal route (i.e. incorporating blasphemy against God). That's part of why I like Maiden. Up the Irons!!!!!!

I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Never actually understand, even if they try, because all they see is you, on fire, screaming about the arsonist that no one ever sees, and who has been spreading lies about your alleged mental instability, deceptive personality, etc. the whole time. While the last thing survivors need is more blame, our society supports a narrative that blames the objectively innocent party because the blatantly guilty party has spent their entire lives fabricating a persona and we’re just being human, and human psychology is quite counterintuitive especially in the context of trauma. Look at Amber Heard. Vilified and not believed, regardless of what any abuse survivor could recognize as a fellow survivor instantly. But Johnny depp is a malignant narcissist, a man, and wealthy as all get out. It’s sick.

Moyet later described how her song "Goodbye 70's" had been inspired by her disillusionment with how the late-1970s punk scene had turned out, saying, "'Goodbye 70's' is about punk and not caring how you were dressed, and then I discovered that so many of my friends that I'd thought it all really meant something to just saw it as another trend... That's what 'Goodbye 70's' was all about, about how sour the whole thing became."

Matt Shadows their lead singer says the song was written as per request from the developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Watching the initial trailers for the game & looking at production sketches reminded him of the 'S-Town' podcast & its main protagonist, John B. McLemore. Matt also comments specifically on the lyrics: "I decided that the lyrics would shadow McLemore's life." In 2012, antiquarian horologist John B. McLemore sent an email to the staff of the show 'This American Life' asking them to investigate an alleged murder in his hometown of Woodstock, Alabama, a place McLemore claimed to despise. After a year of exchanging emails & several months of conversation with McLemore, producer Brian Reed traveled to Woodstock to investigate. Reed investigated the crime & eventually found that no such murder took place, though he struck up a friendship with the depressed but colorful character of McLemore. He recorded conversations with McLemore & other people in Woodstock. McLemore killed himself by drinking potassium cyanide on June 22, 2015 while the podcast was still in production. In the narrative of the podcast, this occurs at the end of the second episode; subsequent episodes deal with the fallout from McLemore's death while exploring more of McLemore's life & character.
