This Town Lyrics
Of catty girls and pretty boys
Make up that face
Jump in the race
Life's a kick in this town
Life's a kick in this town
This town is our town
It is so glamorous
Bet you'd live here if you could
And be one of us
We're all dreamers - we're all whores
Discarded stars
Like worn out cars
Litter the streets of this town
Litter the streets of this town
This song should've been a single! It was SO worthy of it! It's a total chart-topper. I've heard that it's about Hollywood. Makes sense to me.
The chosen toys of catty girls and pretty boys is a covert reference to lesbians and gayboys. It's an anthem about Hollywood and specifically, despite prejudices, deep down, we bet you'd live here if you could and be one of us
It's all about Hollywood/LA and the image of how it's the ideal town. The stereotype is all the people are glamorous and good looking, but reading between the lines, the lyrics really show that it isn't.
This song has a strange meaning for me. One reason why I quit church was the competition between small and big churches. People at small churches are often bitter and jealous. Big churches have more members, more activities and events, well-maintained buildings. I felt very pressured to attend a small church and prove that I was a "real" Christian, who didn't need the "fancy stuff".
However, those small churches are hoping to grow. They would be thrilled if their church attracted a bunch of new members, so they could also be a big place: "This town is our town, it is so glamorous / Bet you'd live here if you could and be one of us"
In my experience, those small churches don't grow because they are too narrow-minded and "set in their ways". There can be other factors (such as location) but this is common. They want new members - who are not too different from them. People who are not too open-minded and will not upset the status quo. Then, when the church doesn't have enough members, they worry about closing: "Discarded stars, like worn-out cars, litter the streets of this town". And they blame the big churches.
Kittie and Korn didn't cover this song. The version that RaviE is thinking of was actually done by Human Waste Project with Jon Davis doing guest vocals.
I do like the HWP version, but you gotta love the classics.

@scrobin Well they ARE EVIL. The chance that anyone denies what and why we are on this planet are Christian and look at sex as something bad. The truth is, even if all the Christian believers were destroyed tomorrow or today- the earth and the life on it would continue to live. I think this song is a syzygy of abuse, Christian symbolism and homosexual freedom from the world of which we live.In other words- despite our mothers and fathers and their innate ability to be complete assholes- we are all products of the environment of which we are born...

The truth is, even if all the Christian believers were destroyed tomorrow or today- the earth and the life on it would continue to live. I think this song is a syzygy of abuse, Christian symbolism and homosexual freedom from the world of which we live.In other words- despite our mothers and fathers and their innate ability to be complete assholes- we are all products of the environment of which we are born and reared. The speaker in this piece is obviously conflicted with the idea that from whence he came- his mother’s vagina. The scientific explanation of “how” can be explained by genetics. So, if the speaker IS a homosexual, then he or she has inherited the problem without any point of contention biologically( as there is a gay gene we inherit from our own parents)and the message of the speaker in this song relates that by association of people in general. AS WE ARE ALL STARS. It maybe is a homage to the sun as the sun is a star also.
the song lyrics are so sweet...but i think kittie and korn did a better vesion of this song
