"Be My Downfall" as written by and Justin Currie....
The bus is pulling out and I guess I'd better go
Before I make a grave mistake and let my feelings show
And twenty miles away she waits alone for me
But when I try to picture her you're the one I see
And in another situation I could put up a fight
But you will be my downfall tonight

So the night is coming down, drowning us in blue
And it all points towards the things we know we shouldn't do
And as I look at you and I fall under your spell
Well I know I should be thinking of her lying there herself

And when faced with temptation you know a man should stand and fight
But you will be my downfall tonight

Be my downfall be my great regret be the one girl
That I'll never forget
Be my undoing be my slow road to ruin tonight

So the bus is pulling out and I'm grounded here with you
And I want to say the sweet things babe I've always wanted to
So tell me now the tail-lights have gone out of sight
Baby won't you be my downfall once again tonight

General Commenthad a long love affair at the time when this album came out. still reminds me of all the great times we had together. i know this song is about infidelity but to me it just reminds me of how my boyfriend always had to get the last bus home and how we were so bad at saying goodbye each time. oh to be young again!

General CommentPretty obviously about an affair. About knowing what the right thing to do is and doing the exact opposite.

When the heart is involved the brain very rarely wins.

General CommentThis song reminds me of way too much. It's a beautiful song that makes me far too sad.

General CommentI just love the lines 'in another situation I could put up a fight' and 'when faced with temptation a man should stand and fight' don't know why. They are just such beautiful painful and sad lyrics

General CommentI love this song. All the way through you get the feeling that he's really strugling, knowing he should 'stand and fight' temptation, but he just can't resist anymore, although he knows it will be his downfall. Then, right at the end, he throws in a couple of extra words 'once again' that reveal that it's not the first time and he's been two-timing for a while. I love the way Del Amitri do that (see Last to know). Very powerful.
