Drifting, drifting, drifting away
I got myself a mansion, then I gave it away
It's not the world that's heavy, it's just the things that you save
And I'm drifting, drifting away
Drifting, drifting, drifting along
I rid myself of worries, and my worries were gone
I only run when I want to and I sleep like a dog
I'm drifting, drifting along
The suit coats say, "there is money to be made"
They get so excited, nothing gets in their way
My road it may be lonely just because it's not paved
It's good for drifting, drifting away
All the suit coats say, "there is money to be made"
They get so excited, nothing get's in their way
My road it may be lonely just because it's not paved
It's good for drifting, drifting away
Drifting, drifting, drifting, uh huh
I feel like going back there, but never for long
I sometimes wonder if they know that I'm gone
I'm drifting, drifting along
Drifting, drifting along, drifting, drifting along.

The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory; it's about the simple life. This song is so light and carefree...I love the harmonica:)

The simplicity of this song makes it that much more fun to listen to.... the guitar in the begining is so carelessly played,

the song is about them wanting to do their own thing as opposed to what the "suitcoats" ( Higher ups, producers, basically Corporate bullshitters ) wanted them to do.

It's Them saying that even though they are this enormous band, they still got time to stop and do what they want......

That even though not many people have journeyed their way ( My road may be lonely just because it's not paved) it suits them well because all they wanna do is drift....

Pearl Jam is so Frigging amazing..... I can not wait for their new album coming out in 2005 hopefully:) Hopefully not 2006 :(

I have heard 2 versions of this song: the original from the 1999 Christmas single (entitled Driftin'), and recently the one found on Lost Dogs (called Drifting). I have to say that the original is much better. They are essentially the same song, but the original is just so much more relaxed, and the worst part is the lack of "damn" in the "they get so damn excited" part. In the Lost Dogs version he just draws out "so" and it sounds too unnatural. So I suggest you check out the original if the Lost Dogs version is the only version you have heard. It can be founds on a PJ related blog called "I am Fuel, You are Friends".

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Punchline

He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
