"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
I wake up in the morning
And the sun begins to shine
The day did sneak up on the night
I see your face and I see myself
And I get a little taste of life
I try to stand it for a while
But I'm in a trance
Hey baby, tell me, can't you hear me calling?
I'm in a trance
I take too much in the Saturday night
Hey, hey
Hey baby, tell, me can't you hear me calling?
I'm in a trance
I want to try to stop this life
I feel so sad I'm feeling down
On the radio the music plays
I'm in love with her and I feel fine
I close my eyes, I think today is getting better with a sip of wine
And I can stand it for a while
When I'm in a trance
Hey baby tell me can't you hear me calling
I'm in a trance
I take too much in the Saturday night
Hey, hey
Hey baby tell me can't you hear me calling
I'm in a trance
I want to try to stop this life
I'm in a trance
Hey baby tell me can't you hear me calling
I'm in a trance
I take too much in the Saturday night
Hey, hey
Hey baby tell me can't you hear me calling
I'm in a trance

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
this song is my favorite of all balads in general. The guitar & lyrics are perfect! About the meaning of this song is the exact situation rogermania describes, he/she have got the feeling!
I can't beleive no-one commented this song! Scorpions fans, where are you?
It's about that feeling in the morning, when you swear to God, to the whole world, to yourself that you'll be a better person, that you'll get your love back or something...
It's a beautiful song, the chorus is a work of art, and the whole atmosphere is so.. like Led Zeppelin. Just perfect.
The first time I read the lyrics I thought that this song would be about drugs, but looking deeper, I see that its much more than that.
I think its about the post-breakup of a serious relationship. The girl has left him and he's trying to cope with the depression. On the saturday nights he goes and gets really drunk and screams out her name, but she cant hear him.
Yeah, thats my interpretation of it.
yea this one of the scorpions older songs just after they were weird but yea i think your alright its about him being in love with his girl more than ever but she dosnt see it and wants to break up with him but he wants to stop all that
waking up in the morning having a hangover staying in bed without standing up thinking on that girl you have lost(thinking how to get her back, what you have done) and you only want to stop time and get drunk for stop feeling sad
The Scorpion's song In Trance is the best Rock and Roll Ballad of all time. It talks about alcoholism, and being disgusted with your present life and old lady. And how it only seems to get better with a "sip of wine." I think when he refers to "Hey baby, Can you hear me calling" is a shout out to death. As if he want to be relieved from this life. And of course, the title In Trance. I think it refers to going through life by just the motions, not really living it, like in a comatose stage....Klaus Meine really brings the darkness, an almost crying in his singing voice...And the music haunting and driving. Just a perfect Rock and Roll Ballad...
