This used to be the favourite song of a radio announcer in South Africa, who used to play it often on his morning show. It turned out that it was very special to him and his girlfriend, who had a pet cat. He would play songs for the cat, using its human name! And he was involved in a serious car accident and hospitalised with appalling injuries. The radio station used fill-in announcers, hoping he'd recover. One night his girlfriend dreamt that he said to her that he was sorry, but he couldn't keep going any more; and in the dream she told him it was all right. He died that night, and the next day the stand-in announcers told everyone what had happened, crying on air and playing Words in various versions, over and over. Can't remember the year; decades ago.
Great song, and it sounds heartfelt when they sing "It's only words, and words all I have, to take your heart away." But when you think about it, why are there only words? How about some actions? The words will have more meaning if they're backed by actions.
