Walk on by
The house where you still live
Walk on by
The place where we would kiss
And the room where I held you tight
Tonight I must walk on by

Walk on by
The room where you still sleep
Walk on by
The company that you keep
And the room where I held you tight
Tonight I must walk on by

Somehow I know, whoa
I won't forget you, no no no no no, I won't
You won't forget me, no no no no no, you won't
I'll keep on walking away from here
I'll forget you when I reach the other side

Walk, walk on by
The house where you still live
Walk on by
The place where we would kiss
And the room where I held you tight
Tonight I must walk on by

And the room where I held you tight
Tonight I must walk on by

General CommentIt's about being reminded about your ex-lover. I like how it takes you to dark places by making you remember what you shared and what you did, and then taking you back out with "I'll keep on walking away from here. I'll forget you when I reach the other side". Beautiful song.

General CommentIt sounds like its about a guy who is still thinking about a girl whom he had a relationship in the past. He can't forget about her and he wants to believe that she still thinks of him- but he's forcing himself to move on.

General CommentI'm sure no-one can walk past there ex's house and not think of that person even though it's not part of your life any more.

General CommentWhat a sad song. There's nothing harder than moving on after you've been in a relationship for such a long time. Its impossible not to think about that person, especially if you happen to pass a place with sentimental meaning, like thier house. Love is a strange mistress, I tell you what.

General CommentEvery time that I listen to this song I imagine that he is signaling an organized drive-by shooting, the signal being the house that he walks past.

    General CommentThat's an...interesting take, big. =D

I agree with everyone. It's just him trying to move on, even though he'll never really forget her. Great song.

General Commentdrive by shooting? what the hell?

id say its pretty straightforward. and when he says "ill keep on walking away from here/i'll forget you when i reach the other side" implies that he'll never really forget her because you can't really walk away from something and get to the other side.

General CommentThis is my favorite CAKE song, it's so sad, yet so triumphant. Even though he has al these great memories, he knows he just has to walk on by

General CommentIts about a guy who is stalking his ex-girlfriend, and sneaking into her house. I love this song, but its very creepy. I'll forget you when I reach the other side. I think he's saying I'll forget you when I'm dead.

General CommentThis song has a lot of meaning to me lately, because of my ex that broke up with me months ago, I ignored it with self medication for a while, now nothing works, and now she's with another guy, and will barely speak to me anymore. I've had things with other girls since, but I can't get into a relationship anymore, I love this song and CAKE is one of my favorite bands.
