Treefingers Lyrics

I agree with piemerica it is about " change from childhood to adulthood"
No lyrics so no meaning right....is this site lyrics meaning or song meaning? Close your eyes listen to it tell me it means nothin. This is what I get. Drop of rain joining the ocean. A flower blooming. A caterpillar turning to a butterfly. Some background music to natures works perhaps on the discovery channel. Maybe I did too many drugs unless...
Put it with the context of the album Kid A's life from birth to rebirth? Say Kid A is birth (Everything in its right place)....Kid A is kid age (got caught with his first lie)....The National ANthem early teenage years (he begins to see more than just black and white sees all the grey results in confusion and chaos) How to disappear completly early adolescence (Cocky! thinks no one noes anything and I know everything; therefore feels seperated....I'm not here this isn't really happening)....Skip treefingers for now....Optimistic Adult entering the capitalistic age time to get a job and get ahead in life(big fish eat the little fish I wsant some to)....whats between adolescence and adult hood? treefingers ofcourse adulthood Time to branch of and explore from what we've learned from our roots

Ok stick with me on this one... I was on shrooms and staring at the multitude of trees surrounding my campus. I then observed a solitary tree that had obviously been there for a while. I decided to turn my iPod to the song and stare at the tree and developed an interpretation:
The trees have seen many events and heard many things throughout the years, so therefore within all the knots and twisted limbs are years of built-up knowledge and memories. As the song focuses on the lower instrumentals, it builds the base of the tree and works its way up. When the pitch changed, it seemed to focus upon the limbs and "fingers" of the tree and knots within the wood. The song seemed to be "the Tao" (otherwise known as the unnamable way that flows throughout all living things in the Taoist religion... think of chi) that flowed throughout the tree and connected with the other trees. It made lots more sense when I was on shrooms, but try it sometime! Get some shrooms, put on treefingers, and stare at a tree... it seems intricately woven.
@kazenostrider Oh my god yes, I think you nailed it. This reminds me of something I had heard about the cover for the album, that it depicted a "supernatural landscape." It really fills me a sense of dread and, simultaneously, awe. When I tripped in the forest I felt like I had felt when I was a child, that all of life was really one giant organism that I was finally rejoining. It was almost zen-like but in a dissonant and chilling way, like my soul had been ripped from my body and I was assimilated into the soul of...

I really like this song when you listen to it you can detatch yourself from yourself and suddenly everything is really peaceful.

its about chage from childhood to adulthood
fitting the Kid A theme

not disagreeing, but just wondering: Piemerica, how did you come to the conclusion that the song is about that? I mean, there are no lyrics, its just ambient guitar noise.
If you pay attention to the album and you can read music, it's not that difficult to understand. Lyrics can't hold a candle to the instrumentation. Without it, you've just got poetry.

to me the album starts of with (everything in its right place) but soon everything gets frantic and chaotic, next something traumatic happens(kid a), then it's the reaction to it which spins out of control(the national anthem), but then it gets unbearable and a "this isn't happening..." feeling from all thats going wrong(how to disappear), and then this song (treefingers) is the not being here, it is the escape, and when it's finally over it's the aftermath...

i can't believe i forgot idioteque..... disregard anything i've said.... i obviously don't know what i'm talking about : - (

This is a really cool song because it brings a strong sense of release in your mind, and you slowly relax.

BeaNs your just as bad as willard check his post on lucky. but yeah why is it that theres no song meanings on musicians who mostly dont have lyrics like lemon jelly i typed lemon jelly and it said theres no lyrics for this band. your like wtf this is song meanings not word dissections

i didnt know the lyrics to this song were "no lyrics, but this song can put your mind at peace if you lie down with your eyes closed listening to it. It deserves recognition!". i didnt even know this song had lyrics! wow! i thought it was instrumental.
i hate when people write in the lyric box.

it cirtainly deserves recognition, it is noise, soothing ambient noise. the calming soothing effect many of you talk about is otherwise known as "meditation"

no, a devotional exercise of or leading to contemplation is otherwise known as "meditation". the calming soothing effect isn't meditation in itself, it might lead to or aide in meditation, but it isn't the act of meditation.
