And I will await your highness
I'm so high I cannot walk
And I will await
You cripple
You take away my pride
My peace, my empathy
No babies sleep on atrophy
Your unborn love and fetal stress
Hard bitter candy, legless caress

What was she for Halloween?
The ugliest girl you've ever seen
Someday she will die alone

What was she for Valentine's?
An old forgotten concubine
Someday she will die for no one

She seems to me to know
All that glitters is sour
All the lies in her place
Jesus saves
Old age
Old age
Old age

It's okay to kill your idols
Just pretend you have no rivals
We all know that she is friendless

Spits at mirrors; it's not an issue
Just remove the hateful tissues
We all know her rage is endless

She seems to me to know
All that glitters is sour
All the lies in her place
Jesus saves
Old age
Old age
Old age
Old age

And then she begs and she says "Pretty please?
I'll make her pure again; I'll make her clean"

No one knows she's Hester Prynne
Someone please tell Anne Boleyn
Chokers are back in again

Someday she won't have to fake it
Living will itself seem sacred
Someday she will just refuse

She seems to me to know
All that glitters is sour
All the lies in her place
Jesus saves
Old age
Old age
Old age
Jesus saves
Old age

(Rest in pieces) I'm sorry
(Me in pieces) So sorry
(Rest in pieces) I'm sorry
(Me in pieces) So sorry

oh my god you idiots, if you had done even 10 seconds of research you would know that kurt did write the music but it was COURTNEY who wrote the lyrics. it's just that most nirvana fans are so far up kurt's ass that they try and act like courtney's just some evil bitch with no brains or imagination of her own. the truth is that courtney is a smart and talented woman and is more than capable of writing lyrics just as good as kurt's, or even better than his. and please stop with the same old bullshit "courtney killed kurt" conspiracy theories on every single hole/nirvana song, are you all 10 years old or something??

I think this is a pretty good song. And who the fuck cares if Kurt wrote it? It isn't as if Courtney tied him to a chair and forced him to write her a song. He gave it to her willingly. Plus, she's several times admitted she didn't write it in interviews, though she never said it was Kurt, probably knowing that people would only make a big deal out of it.

Here's what Courtney had to say about Old Age in 1997: "Old Age is partly someone else's composition. It's something somebody had a little bit of and I said 'let me have the rest of it' and I wrote this thing in it and tried to make it goth. I found it, wrote it, and recorded it the same night."

You can tell that this is more Kurt-style than Courtney-style lyrics, though. Fuck, it says KURT all over it with the way it's written. Especially the first verse and the chorus.

the best parts of the song, the verses, are courtney's and the chorus and composition are by kurt.

all of you NIRVANA fans need to chill the fuck out -he killed himself partly because he was afraid of becoming the very thing you have turned him into. fuck off and get over it

the whole thing to me seems to be about the ups and downs of fame

"all that glitters is sour" could mean that being a rockstar looks great and glamorous but it can quickly turn into something awful -a testament to what she and kurt were going through at the time

"we all know her rage is endless" possibly courtney writing about herself and her reputations a hot head

"(Rest in pieces) I'm sorry (Me in pieces) So sorry" i hate to pull the kurt card but this could be about him. during unplugged she kept looking up during this song almost as if she was apologizing for not being enough to keep him going. she's telling him goodbye but by saying "me in pieces" it implies that she's shattered and doesn't know what to do without him -her life is in pieces

    My Interpretation

was houseofclouds the only one to explain the lyrics?

No one knows she's Hester Prynne Someone please tell Anne Boleyn Chokers are back in again

Hester Prynne; particularly known for being a "truly liberated, defiantly sexual" character of her time. Anne Boleyn; accused of adultery and incest in 1536. My shallow guess: Character in the song (possibly Courtney, as houseofclouds interpretation would also imply) is secretly a whore, and an impending goth (choker reference?). It seems as though she's floating through life ("friendless", "pretend to have no rivals") with little self-esteem, getting closer death every day , which will be her ultimate and final rebellion ("one day she will just refuse", maybe suicide?). Will not reach old age.

this is a really cool song. it's...amazing. i think it would have been better on 'live through this' than "credit in the straight world",but i dont really know..i like how they used the beginning (and i will await your highness...) in 'credit...' though.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
