"Why Judy Why" as written by and Billy Joel....
Of all the people in the world that I know
You're the best place to go
When I cry, when I cry

I never asked for much before, not before
Things are changed; I need more
Tell me why, Judy, why?

I never thought that she would say
Say goodbye; but she did
And now I wanna die. I wanna die

I never thought that I would need, need a friend
But I did, in the end
Tell me why, Judy, why

Oh, what a scene
It's wrong for her to hang me up this way
Oh, where you been?
'Cause it's so hard to make it through the day

A man my age is very young, so I'm told
Why do I feel so old?
Tell me why, Judy, why?

Oh, what a scene
It's wrong for her to hang me up this way
Oh, where you been?
'Cause it's so hard to make it through the day

There's no tomorrow 'cause my dreams did not last
So I live in the past
Tell me why, Judy, why?

General CommentI used to be mesmerized by this song singing it while I mowed the neighbors lawns. I was probably 12 years old. Now Im 28 and the song has stayed with me especially the question WHY and the lovely music. Sometimes I think about "a man my age is very young, So I'm told. Why do I feel so old" because I sometimes feel older than I am. That part sticks in my head. Who is that Judy? probably nobody. The guys to damn lost.

General CommentI agree with guarimn, the line "a man my age is very young, so I'm told, whyh do I feel so old" is very powerful. It reminds me of myself a lot of the time, unfortunately.

General CommentI just heard this song on his SiriusXM channel. I've been a Billy Joel Fan since Piano Man's release, but I don't think I've heard this song before, but I like it. Interesting that this was written about his sister.
I must admit I have never listened to Cold Spring Harbor in it's entirety, I've just heard songs here and there. Even with the error in the mastering that made the songs play slightly too fast on this album, I just think of it as a young Billy Joel singing.
I'm going to have to listen to the rest of it that I have not heard. Billy's great lyrics & music were evident even with this first album.
