Nature Boy Lyrics
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he
A magic day he passed my way
And while we spoke of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return"
Is just to love and be loved in return"

Who is this boy? I'd like to know him.

I love this song. I've never really been into old music like this, but it's amazing. I'm pretty sure that this song is based on the story "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Amazing song... its just beautiful.

I never realised this song was based on The Little Prince! Which I've read 4 times(once in French lol) Now that I look back at the lyrics it's clear! Thanks Caligo for opening up my eyes and making this song more enjoyable! "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return" These lines were always magical to me and now that I have the connection I realize it's a vital part in the book where the Petite Prince realizes what's important in life. The song is about the narrator(the pilot in the Petite prince) and how he meets the petite prince and he tells him of his adventures. Mezmerising song!

The idea that the song is based on Le Petite Prince is charming, but it is also very wrong. Nature Boy is a semi-autobiographical song from the composer, and refers to the first ' hippies' avant la lettre in the USA in the 1940's.
