Personal Jesus Lyrics

Your own (your own)
Personal
Jesus

Someone to hear your prayers,
Someone who cares

Feeling unknown when your all alone,
Flesh and bone by the telephone,
lift up the reciever
ill make you a believer

take second best,
put me to the test,
things on your chest that you need to confess,
I will deliver
You know im a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith x2

Your own (your own)
Personal
Jesus

Someone to hear your prayers,
Someone who cares

Your own
Personal
Jesus

Someone to ehar your prayers,
Someone who's there

Feelin unknown when your all alone,
Flesh and bone by the telephone,
Lift up the reciever,
ill make u a believer

I will deliver
You know im a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith (reach out reach out) x7

O_o

I suspect it's not actually about Jesus. Gee.

I can see a few meanings which are a lot more sarcastic and/or perverted/dark. The lightest of these is a church hotline or maybe a psychic hotline - "take second best." The darkest is someone he's calling to arrange a drug sale. "Your own personal Jesus" - something tangible that "will make you a believer" in whatever it is.

Ok. Bitchfest time. PLEASE DON'T BE A LAMEASS AND SAY STUFF LIKE "ill" for "I'll"... "u" for "you".... "im" for "I'm"...ignoring capitalization...."ehar" for "hear" ;)

I can see doing that for a quick chat, but if you're entering lyrics, you've got at least a couple minutes on your hands. Yeah. /Bitchfest

This song was written about Priscilla Presley's book "Elivs & Me" where she describes their relationship and how for several years he was her father, lover and "quite nearly God"
