This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
Hey hot shot boy
Hand on your hip
You're wasting your time
Giving me lip
When you look at me, it melts my legs
And wraps me around your fingertip
You don't have to say a word
To get hold of me
Take me...shake me
Burning gravity baby
Look at me
Look at me
You're all eyes - all eyes
Touching me in the night
You're all eyes - and those eyes
Are tearing me up inside
We go walking you and I
If some woman turns your eye
I pull you back in my direction
Too keep you by my side
You don't have to go nowhere
To get where you should be
You don't have to look around
Just you look at me - look at me - look at me
You're all eyes - all eyes
Touching me in the night
You're all eyes - and those eyes
Are tearing me up inside
Hand on your hip
You're wasting your time
Giving me lip
When you look at me, it melts my legs
And wraps me around your fingertip
You don't have to say a word
To get hold of me
Take me...shake me
Burning gravity baby
Look at me
Look at me
You're all eyes - all eyes
Touching me in the night
You're all eyes - and those eyes
Are tearing me up inside
We go walking you and I
If some woman turns your eye
I pull you back in my direction
Too keep you by my side
You don't have to go nowhere
To get where you should be
You don't have to look around
Just you look at me - look at me - look at me
You're all eyes - all eyes
Touching me in the night
You're all eyes - and those eyes
Are tearing me up inside

Another Love

I think the meaning is pretty clear. This person got really burned in a previous relationship, and because of this is unable to love and show care in his present one, even though he so badly wants to. It's lovely song, and very sad. You can really feel how defeated and frustrated he is with himself.
