Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
I see you in the dark
Corner of the street
Calling after me, yeah
Headlights on full beam
Coming down the fast lane
Coming after me
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
Blowing holes in everything
Thatcher's children
See you on the way back down
Drooling Looney Tunes
Movin' in a swarm
Movin' in a swarm
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
Na-da-da-da-da-da
Na-da-da-da-da-da, yeah
Na-da-da-da-da-da
Na-da-da-da-da-da, yeah
Nowadays I get panicked
I cease to exist
I have ceased to exist
I feel absolutely nothin'
The words are out of ink
The words you know are out of ink
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
Na-da-da-da-da-da
Na-da-da-da-da-da, yeah
Na-da-da-da-da-da
Na-da-da-da-da-da, yeah
Corner of the street
Calling after me, yeah
Headlights on full beam
Coming down the fast lane
Coming after me
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
Blowing holes in everything
Thatcher's children
See you on the way back down
Drooling Looney Tunes
Movin' in a swarm
Movin' in a swarm
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
You follow me around
Na-da-da-da-da-da
Na-da-da-da-da-da, yeah
Na-da-da-da-da-da
Na-da-da-da-da-da, yeah
Nowadays I get panicked
I cease to exist
I have ceased to exist
I feel absolutely nothin'

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

The verse start: Did you lie to us Tony? is obviously about Tony Blair and the belief before the '97 Election that new Labour would change Britain, but it turned out Blair was just another terrible Leader.
It seems like it's from Tony Blair's point of veiw. Like he told all those lies and doesn't know how to get away from the people who are gonna catch him.
I wish I knew what b-sides collection this song's from. Can anyone tell me?
Phrogex - im quite sure its just a live song, like true love waits or big ideas. the best version i have is from a show in toronto.
Listen, this is just a rumour. But someone posted on the message board at At Ease that they recorded it in August and it's gonna be on the 7th LP. Apparently a message was posted on Dead Air Space for 2 minutes before being taken down that said they recorded it. I'm not sure about it myself coz id've thought greenplastic or treefingers wouldv'e mentioned it if it'd actually happened.
Just thought I'd mention this.
yeah this song is unreleased, but there's a version on the documentary 'meeting people is easy' that has the rest of the band join in for the last section. is pretty cool. it would be super cool if it was on the new album. it looks like nude/big ideas is gonna be on there, so it's definitely a possibility.
and i agree with robothouse.
+seems to me the follow me around reference could be about depression? once you go through it u always have this nagging feeling like its always with you waiting to attack. i just get this vibe that he was panicked and axious and everywhere he went his axiety followed
but tony blair follows him (bush) around like a dog (i'm your lapdog)
there's also an early radiohead song about burning bush, but his father. i like how thom always denies these political connotations
It could be about Tony Blair, but I doubt it has any connection to George W. since the song was written around '97/'98 (he performs it on the 1998 film "Meeting People Is Easy"), so that was before W's time and after Bush Sr.
