Oh look at how she listens
She says nothing of what she thinks.
She just goes stumbling through her memories
Staring out onto Grey Street.

She thinks, "Hey, how did i come to this?
I dream myself a thousand times around the world,
But i can't get out of this place"

There's an emptiness inside her
And she'd do anything to fill it in.
But all the colors mix together... to grey.
And it breaks her heart.

How she wishes it was different,
She prays to God most every night.
And though she swears He doesn't listen
There's still a hope in her it might
She says, "I pray, but they fall on deaf ears,
Am i supposed to take it on myself?
To get out of this place.

There's a loneliness inside her
And she'd do anything to fill it in.
And though it's red blood bleeding from her now
It feels cold blue ice in her heart.
When all the colors mix together--to grey
And it breaks her heart.

There's a stranger speaks outside her door,
Says take what you can from your dreams.
Make them as real as anything
Oh, It'll take the work out of courage.
But she says, "Please!"
"There's a crazy man that's creeping outside my door."
"I live on the corner of Grey Street"
"And the end of the world."

There's an emptiness inside her,
And she'd do anything to fill it in.
And though it's red blood bleeding from her now
It's more like cold blue ice in her heart.
She feels like kicking out all the windows
And setting fire to this life
She could change everything about her
Using colors bold and bright
But all the colors mix together... to grey
And it breaks her heart
It breaks her heart x2
To grey

Once again DMB amazes me with the vivid descriptions. I think this song is about an emotionally depressed woman. She doesn't talk about how she is feeling. She just thinks about her memories, stuck in a depressing funk. This song IS me on so many levels.

She has no idea how she came to that point in her life. She thought she'd be in a different place in her life, but she isn't and she wonders how it happened. She can't get out of that place in her mind, that melancholy area where her soul feels drained.

That empty feeling, that loneliness desperately needs to be filled in. The color reference could be different emotions. As much as she wishes to be happy, her feelings of unhappiness surface.

She wants things to be different, and she prays for things to change, even though she believes that God isn't listening to her pleas, she still has hope. She wonders if she should bear the brunt of her sorrow and remedy her own pain.

Though she is a human being with flesh, and vulnerability, her heart has turned cold when everything because dull and bleak.

The stranger that gives her advice is telling her to believe in herself, and in her dreams for a better life. When she finds that hope, it makes being courageous less difficult. She lives in between total unhappiness and what couldd be construed as suicidal. The end of the world, is great way to describe being on the edge of your sanity. Ready and willing to end it all.

She wants to break out of her sadness, and throw away her old life full of pain. She could change everything about herself being more vibrant and happy, but in the end she'll still be unhappy, as everything returns to what it once was. It breaks her heart.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
