i am the face of piss and shit and sugar
i do a crooked little dance with my funny little monkey
what i want, what i want is just your children
i hate what i hate become to escape what i hated being
calliopenis envy from your daddy
you're not gonna hear what he don't want to hear
what i say disgusts him
he wants to be me and that scares him
"let's do a funny little dance with my funny little monkey"
the black keys
here is my real head, here is my real head
i wear this fucking mask because you cannot handle me
here is my real head
they try to blink me not to think me
don't want to bring me out
i am the rotten teeth, my fists are lined with suckers
my prison skin's an eyesore-mirror-sketch-pad
i am your son
your dad
your fag
i am your fad
here is my real head, here is my real head
i wear this fucking mask because you cannot handle me
here is my real head

Although I don't know Mr. Manson's exact meaning of this song, he changed my life with this song and here's why. I was raised in a strict Christian home and sent to Christian school. My parents would raid my cd collection and attempt to make me get rid of albums they deemed offensive. I was raised a Christian and was Christian until I became older and began to question it and eventually turned against it. I was then an Atheist living in a Christian home. I was living a lie. I went to church with my parents every Sunday and went through the motions. I felt trapped. I was pretending to be something I wasn't. Eventually I got to the point where I could no longer take it and had to "come out" to my parents and tell them I was an Atheist and I did not believe in god or heaven or hell. It was this song that single handedly influenced me to do just that. The line "I wear this fucking mask because you cannot handle me. Here is my real head." told me what I had to do. I had to take off the mask that I was wearing and show them who I really was even though they couldn't handle it, wouldn't like it, and it would be ugly to them. Marilyn Manson taught me to be myself and changed my life forever.

I think this song is about how people percive manson and make up lies to fuel their hatred of him. He appears to sing these lyrics sarcastically " I am the face of piss and shit and sugar" I think when he sings "I do a funny little dance with a crooked little monkey" he is talking about how they'd prefer it if he dumbed down and mindlessley amused them instead of challenging their views like he does!

GODDAMN this is a creepy ass song. I'm surprised no one has commented on how creepy and sick-sounding this song is. I mean, listen to the organ in the song, all high and shit. It's like "doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo," like a Halloween song. This sounds like random halloween music and rock combined, and a bit disco, with a satanic twist. This is the creepiest fucking song ever. POAF was the darkest, most overblown album ever released.

Pretty self explanitory if you ask me. Parent's find Manson disgusting and think that he is a bad influence without really taking the time to understand what he is all about.

    My Interpretation

The antithesis from the first line shows the general idea of how Manson is perceived - a combination of good and bad. The song itself gravitates around this - He's expected to ''dance with a funny little monkey'', because of society's terms, but, underneath the mask - which represents a false image of him - there is his real self (real head), who ''can't be handled'' and that scares people - they try to not think so much about him, so he won't ''bring him out''. At the end, he still manages to scare them, by saying that people like him are everywhere.

One of the best off of POAF, About him corrupting children. and being the embodiment of what people fear. At least that's what I think.

I agree with Atom of Eden, I'm just commenting to say that this is an amazing song- I can't get enough of it. It's a shame how some people wont listen to his music because of "The Dope Show"s music video.

smp2099, I had the same thought. Even though Jackson had faced some allegations before Portrait was released, I still doubt we're right, but you never know. You could also say that the references to someone's "daddy" are about Jackson's issues with his father and how he tried to achieve his own wishes for success through the young Michael.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Zombie
Cranberries, The
"Zombie" is about the ethno-political conflict in Ireland. This is obvious if you know anything of the singer (Dolores O'Riordan)'s Irish heritage and understood the "1916" Easter Rising reference. "Another head hangs lowly Child is slowly taken And the violence caused such silence Who are we mistaken - Another mother's breaking Heart is taking over" Laments the Warrington bomb attacks in which two children were fatally injured on March 23rd, 1993. Twelve year old Tim Parry was taken off life support with permission from his mother after five days in the hospital, virtually braindead. "But you see it's not me It's not my family" References how people who are not directly involved with the violence feel about it. They are "zombies" without sympathy who refuse to take action while others suffer.
