Trucks And Trains Lyrics
Some hit so hard you barely feel a thing
Lights out right now back then and forevermore
Lights out left now these robots marching
To the nearest liquor store
There's something green that's leaving town
Always thought it was blue
Always knew I was wrong
Where it goes hell knows maybe somewhere better than here
And what they say of the grass on the other sides true
Too much time looking up is turning everything blue
Including me - including you
Including you
These times count down like boats and planes
Some wash away in undertow
Some plummet down in flames
Lights out right now back then and forevermore
With sirens on this ambulance is racing to the west coast shore
There's something blue that's leaving town
We always talked about black we're considering brown
Where it goes hell knows
Maybe somewhere better than here
And what they say of the grass on the other sides true
Too much time looking up's turning everything blue
Including me, including the ocean, including you
Feel the ocean blue
Engulfing you
I view the deep blue sea
It's turning red right in front of me
There's something gray that's leaving town
And it's way beyond me
How it gets off the ground
Where it goes hell knows
Maybe somewhere better than here
And what they say of the grass on the other sides true
Too much time looking ups turning everything blue
Including me, including the pilots, including you

Ive kind of changed my mind about the meaning of this song, I think its more about how wishing his life was different has caused him to miss what he already has "too much time looking up's turning everything blue, including me, including you". I think the section about the sea also talks about this, kind of like he is lookig out at the sea, wishing he was somewhere else, and this is causing him to miss what is going on around him "Feel the ocean blue engulfing you"
I agree though, this is the alkaline trio's best song

This song is not about suicide or death, your all retarded. why not take a minute to look at what it really is saying compared to what you want it to say. First off the trucks, trains, boats, and planes are to describe everyday of your life and how they are different. Some are good some are bad, that is what the colors represent, the mood of that day. To describe every section of the song would take awhile so I'm going to sum it down. It has such a beautiful message, not a dark, "Run for the razors!" message as you think. It is saying that everyday will be diffent, some good and some bad, mostly bad cuz life isn't a cake walk. He says that no matter what don't dwell on the past. Everyone is looking at the bad things that have happened and aren't looking at the good and what good will come. "and what they say about the grass on the other side is true, too much time looking up turning everything blue" - translates - "Good things will come in the future, but no one is looking for it, they are too busy looking at the things that make them sad"
Cheer Up Emo Kid! It will all be good :)

This song is about feeling stuck in your life, and the monotony of being unhappy with your current situation.
Hence all the talk about the grass on the other side, looking up, and the various references to methods of travel and the repetition of them leaving town to "somewhere better than here"
I agree with your interpretation; I feel that it is much more apt than the interpretation that it's about death/suicide. Not every Alkaline song is about killing yourself... though most of these interpretations were written by edgester teens from the early 2000's.

This song discribes suicide and death so well that its scary. Alot of alkaline trio's songs deal with pain and loss, but this song tops it all off. Jumping off a cliff into the california ocean and watching your own blood turn the water red before you die. Anyone listening to this song should have some beer and aspirin ready. Alk3 kicks ass

this song has to be my ABSOLUTE favorite alk3 song... although it took me quite a while to realize it because every alkaline trio song is wonderful. however this song just has an awesome sound to it and you cant beat the lyrics (eh theyre a little depressing, but thats the way i like em hehe).

This song is just amazing to me. My friend and I listened to it many times and talked about meanings of it and how it described our lives so well. It was our favorite song. When he died last June it was one of the best comforts...
@brokenhearted crazy looking up people's interpretations on an old song I love, and finding a post like this from the year I was born. Way it's worded, your friend passed before I was even born. Funny thing with life, probably didn't expect a song that meant the world to him to lead to someone 22 years after his passing to come by and give him some flowers. RIP to all the homies not with us anymore

i love this song.... thats all i have to say

I love this song too, it's great when you're depressed (but can't that be said of all alk3?)

I don't really see the suicide aspect in this song, I think it is more to do with the feeling of being bored of where you are in life and work and wishing your life was better than it is now.
