"Galaxy" as written by Toni Halliday and Dean Garcia....
He's got sugar on his lips
And he knows it is his
And he shows it
He just shows it
Do you remember, do you vow the chemical
Show you the picture without the same degree
All he wants is
Blow by blow by blow counts
All searching for the new thing
Scratching the surface, getting nowhere
My place is still invaded by sharks
Covered in glitter, shiny as glass
Leave him with something sweet
Galaxy sweet
He won't say no, he won't say yes
He won't say no, he won't say yeah
Crushing university
I am the queen
I've come to take the sweetness
Keeping down the make keep
Leave him with something sweet
He can't see soon
He won't say no, he won't say yes
He won't say no, he won't say yes
(BV: He won't say no) Everybody knows
(BV: He won't say yes) I've seen it with my eyes
(BV: He won't say no) Everybody knows
(BV: He won't say yeah) I've seen it with my eyes

General CommentCurve IS maybe one of the most influential and beautiful bands to sprout of the English 90's rock scene. This is one of their early songs and typically signifies their sound, spirals of guitars, harsh drumbeats and Toni's sensual, sardonic vocals. I love the ambiguity to Curve's lyrics....but I think there's a common theme to most of them, alienation/angst and vice (a kind of leitmotiv that could also be copied by Garbage). I think you could read Galaxy in diverse ways:

    1. Being infatuated by sex and drugs and for it, staying in a constant ellipsis.

    2. Feeling you only belong in this dangerous freedom (''the pavement is soft and sweet''), but anyway feeling estranged from reality (''the galaxy is so elite''). And feeling that reality and normalcy never quite decides to withhold you.

    3. Toni's relating from the point of view of someone who can't get any satisfaction and is in interpretation with this type of unsettled persona.

P.S: The song was used in the film Mysterious Skin by Gregg Araki, that has similar feelings of confusion and fringe sexuality.

General CommentF*cking hot song, and no more really needs to be said. I heard it in the car scene in the film "Mysterious Skin", and it just blew me away. Totally fit the mood in the scene.

General CommentBrilliant song with a fantastic blow-out the speakers riff and bass line.

It is clearly about being surrounded in pool of liars, druggies, users, and people who would tell you what you want to hear as soon as stab you in the back. I always got the distinct impression it was her addressing that whole horrible commercial corporate ordeal her and Dean went through with State of Play.

So it's basically about drug-sniffing entertainment lawyers, PR consultants, business managers, and agents.
