Hear one thousand screams. Hear one thousand voices. A solitary echo. Feel one thousand pains, but one is receiving a bloody invitation. Do you want to feel the warmth? To taste the life flow? Feel one thousand lost sinking into soft skin. Ingest rejuvenation. One to consume, one to renew. Demanded invitation. I offer grace, I offer blood. I offer everything till my heart is crystal clear. Do you want to feel the warmth? To taste the life? I want to taste the life to taste the life flow.

I hate when people say this song is about giving head. I believe that this song is about the energy at a live show. One thousand screams, hear one thousand voices, a solitary echo. To me this is the crowd cheering for AFI and more specifically Davey. Ingest rejeuvanation demanded invitation- he is given all of his energy by the crowds energy, and their want to see his band. I offer grace, I offer blood, I offer everthing till my heart is crystal clear.- He pours every bit of his emotion into their live shows, until he has absolutely nothing left to give....until the next show (ingest rejeuvanation?) and anyone who has seen them live, even through a bootleg recording of a concert can attest to this. This song should have special meaning to anyone who is in a band. The natural euphoria you recieve from a crowd of people singing YOUR song is like no other. And if Hunter didnt have to show off so much during this song(just joking, he is an amazing bass player) maybe a couple small time bands could cover it.

oh.my.god. if one more person says something about vampires, im going to scream. go back to your anime manga vampire porn and get a life. im pretty sure davey isn't a vampire because you know...they're not real and all. anyways, back to thinking outside the box...just reading the lyrics to this song makes me think its about live shows. but i'd like to think davey is deeper than that. when i listen to the song and hear "i offer grace, i offer blood, i offer everything until my heart is crystal clear", it makes me think of a spiritual high. doing whatever it takes to be touched by that purest of all energies and to be renewed again. or maybe im weird and the song is about vampires and weiners or something. god i hate this site....

I'm not sure, maybe its another of Daveys vampire themed songs. others include Exsanguination, Porphyria Cutanea Tarda, Over-Exposure. It sounds like its about offering blood as in a SACRIFICe!! sounds like he is asking someone to drink his blood (feel the warmth - warm blood, taste the life flow - blood is the life flow). Im sure people had already worked this all out but just in case i wrote it on here. I dont actually know WHAT the song is about, only Davey will know that, but it could be like its about him saying to someone well what else do you want from me?!! i'l let you drink my blood if thats what it takes!! or maybe its just about a big mass sacrifice like in the aztecs where people were just constantly sacrificed for their Gods. I dont know. I havent got a clue about the song but it is a damn piece of work to play on bass!! christ it is so fast! it is a helluva song

I agree with both daveyisagenious(for 2 reasons 1. Davey is a genious 2. the song meaning being what I thought of it) and sugarpunk because I do think Davey uses vampire based metaphores to convey themes to songs. . . wow I have posted that 3 times now

Its about vampires.......as with many of Daveys songs.... "Hear a thousand sreams/voices as a solitary echo" "Feel a thousand pains, receiving a bloody invitation" A thirsty vampire how would it feel knowing how it would change the lives it had to drink from to survive? Do you wanna feel the warmth, the taste of life flow???

I definitely think it's about vampires... I listened to this song immediately after reading the book "Salem's Lot" and I was convinced... I kind of think of it as Davey singing as though he's the lead vampire.. the "queen bee" "Bloody invitation" "Sinking into soft skin" "Ingest rejuvination" "demanded invitation" Vampires need an invitation into your home before they can enter or come near you... usually involves them telling you to let them in.

Sunglasses at Night
Corey Hart
In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him.

Just listening for the 784,654th time....and it's just perfect in every way. Just incredible. The only reason it was remade was to scoop up a boatload of money from a more modern and accepting audience. But it is a completely different song than the other one that sounds slapped together in a few takes without a thought for the meaning. This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. She not only stayed alive, she turned her hard beginnings around, became self sufficient, successful and someone with respect for herself. She didn't let the naysayers and judgers stop her. She's the one sitting in the drivers seat at the end. So, not a song about a poor girl, but a song of hope and how you can rise up no matter how far down you started. There is a huge difference between a singer who simply belts out a song that is on a page in front of them, and someone who can convey an entire experience with their voice. Telling not just a story with words, but taking you inside it and making you feel like you are there, with their interpretation.

The Last Dance

@[Kahiara:35260] Actually I think the husband passed away, "She sang for you last night She heard you were calling" Many people say they have felt, heard, or seen their loved ones after they have passed. "Don't be scared now Close your eyes She holds guard tonight Go on forward no remorse Life will take it's course" This is said to the late husband by a third part (never named), who encourages him to pass on. Because life will eventually continue. The phrase "holds guard" refers to the ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_(ceremony) ) which is a Christian ceremony held after someone dies. Now it is usually held right after the funeral, but in most celtiic countries the wake is held before the funeral. "She danced with you last night so you will remember All you have shared, a lifetime." This sentence feels as if the only thing it wants to convey is their history together, namely, husband and wife. For the rest it just refers back to the first verse.
