Like To Get To Know You Lyrics
Like to get to know you
Finally I found, searching all around
Just was not the answer
One I thought was true
Looked a bit like you
Figured I might chance her
Hardly need to say
She went on her way
Said it was all over
Well it's been some time
And I guess that I'm just meant to be a rover
Can't promise that I'll find a way with you
Can't promise no
I can't promise that I'll love you
But I'd like to get to know you
Yes I would if I could

Awesome talent in harmonizing. Often Spanky and Our Gang would sing what I call "erratic" for parts of the song. Background singings delievering their own separate message, yet all portions pulling together in what seems to me fabulous harmony. Nothing really "erratic" about it. Despit the fact that Elaine MacFarland was the lead singer, and the fact that she was a really good one, the whole group was a well-oiled machine. She really did not stand out as the lead so much despite her talent --with the talent that supported her. I do not know if this song was around before the group. With the title it has, it seems like a song that's been around for a long time, but their version of such a simple (and what I thought was probably an old, simple song) song as this seems awesome to me. Sort of like taking "Old MacDonald had a farm" and making a really appealing rock and roll song with it. It is a kid's song, and is so tired and old, but I bet Spanky and Our Gang could have had a hit with it. Or if not with that one, some other song of the same circumstances. My tastes and perceptions may be somewhat tame or limited as compared to a lot of Rock and Roll fans, but this group, while not my favorite group, has always been a bit awesome to me with everything they sung.
