Even through the darkest phase
Be it thick or thin
Always someone marches brave
Here beneath my skin

And constant craving
Has always been

Maybe a great magnet pulls
All souls towards truth
Or maybe it is life itself
Feeds wisdom
To its youth

Constant craving
Has always been

Craving
Ah-ha
Constant craving
Has always been
Has always been

Constant craving
Has always been
Constant craving
Has always been

Craving
Ah-ha
Constant craving
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been

K.D. Lang is not one of my favorite singers nor do I particularly like much of her music myself, but I think she is extremely gifted.

However I find this song absolutely stunning and I never tire of it. The wonderfully lilting acoustic guitar and the rapturous, crytral clear harmonies put this song in its own catagory.

Her choice of the word "craving" and my general sense of the song makes me intrepret our "constant craving" very broadly, both good and bad "cravings". Basically it sums up all our desires. Be it lust, greed, worth, value, acceptance, impact, legacy, excitement, power, meaning, connection with God and others - our desires are powerful, all encompasing, universal and mostly go unsated. She understands what it is to be human.

This album convinced me that k.d. lang should be billed as the best female vocalist of our time. Because she is not mainstream society, unfortunately she will never get the acclaim that she deserves. I saw her in concert in 2000 at Star Lake Ampitheater and she has a fabulously warm and funloving personality on stage.

I agree...its such a shame that people are so fucking narrow minded these days if she looked like sheryl crow or something like that and was as straight as a ruler...

For me this song expresses craving about truth, in a phylosophycal way. Its like a mysterious need that humanity has been having through all history. K.D. Lang is one of my favorite musicians and i really admire her beautifull style of singing and songwriting.

im agree she has a beautiful and amazing voice, its really sad that people prefers beauty over talent, i heard her singing "crying" and i was overwelmed.

And its also truth thatevery one its beautiful in its own personal way. Even thoug i think its better that she stayed underground, as way of speaking, cause the peolpe who reach her music is cause, they apreciate it.

And that is even better that been in every radio station, cause most of the pop singers and stuff, are seasonal, when you are tired of the same stuff, you ussaly goes where the talen is, so is just a mmater of tie, most of the time.

    you will be bowled over~

she is simply stunning, unappreciated, amazing, and so deep that no one in the "industry" will ever have the right to even approach her...

kd~ the universe knows & understands you, & through that, you do have some who grasp your work,

    I fully agree...

I find her to be a very lovely woman. I don't know much about her at all but do you really have to know someone to know how lovely they are? Just listen to her music, to her unique voice, and you'll find a powerful beauty there. America is shallow and narrowminded, yes. They're all like "Oh you're gay? You're not beautiful because you're gay. Oh you aren't tall and thin and lean-muscled and buried beneathe good makeup and fashion? Oh dear, you're not beautiful."

When can they stop judging a woman's true beauty based on her appearance and sexual orientation and "abnormalities"? Beauty is the soul. And KD Lang is beautiful. Just listen to her and hear what she has to say.

firstly - stunning song, very dark, very beautiful, very powerful.

secondly - i agree with what you're all saying about how she's one of the best female songwriters with the most beautiful voice, and yet just because she's gay, and doesn't have the perfect 'feminine' image, she's no way near as highly regarded as she should be. it's so sad.

madonna on k.d. lang: "elvis is alive. and she's beautiful."

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
