Without a sound I took her down
And dressed in red and blue I squeezed
Imaginary wedding gown
That you can't wear in front of me
A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Lets say goodbye, the hundredth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again
Tomorrow we'll do it again

I dragged her down I put her out
And back there I left her where no one could see
And lifeless cold into this well
I stared as this moment was held for me
A kiss goodbye, your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Lets say goodbye, the hundredth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

I never thought it'd be this way
Just me and you, we're here alone
And if you stay, all I'm asking for is
A thousand bodies piled up
I never thought would be enough
To show you just what I've been thinking

And I'll keep on making more
Just to prove that I adore
Every inch of sanity
All I'm asking for is, all I'm asking for is
(Come on)

These hands stained red
From the times that I've killed you and then
We can wash down this engagement ring
With poison and kerosene
We'll laugh as we die
And we'll celebrate the end of things
With cheap champagne

Without, without a sound
Without, without a sound
And I'll wish you away
Without a sound
And I'll wish you away
Without a sound, without a sound
And I'll wish you away
Without a sound, without a sound
And I'll wish you away
Without a sound, without a sound
And I'll wish you away

A thousand bodies piled up... Yes, I think I get part of the song. I read somewhere that part of the story to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, is that he and the girl he loves are both dead. The girl makes it straight into heaven, but the man has to make up for all the wrong that he's done, and his redemption is to kill a thousand evil people. I forget wear I read it, but it starts to make sense now. Maybe, for example, the first verse is referring to him while he's still trying to redeem himself. Talking about how much he misses her and how he wants to see her or something, and that every day he misses her more and more...?

"Imaginary wedding gown That you can't wear in front of me"

I'm pretty sure it's "imagining a wedding gown that you can't wear in front of me". That is a reference to the fact that, traditionally, grooms aren't supposed to see their brides in their gowns before the ceremony (it's bad luck for the marriage).

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about a man, Gerard, who loves a woman, but she's marrying someone else. This makes him very, very angry, and he kills people and pretends they are her for revenge. But he can't actually kill her, because he loves her.

"Without a sound I took her down and dressed in red and blue I squeezed Imaginary wedding gown That you can't wear in front of me" She's engaged and fantasizes about the wedding, which Gerard will never be able to attend.

"Lets say goodbye, the hundredth time And then tomorrow we'll do it again Tomorrow we'll do it again" He's killed countless, possibly hundreds of women.

"I never thought it'd be this way Just me and you, we're here alone And if you stay, all I'm asking for is A thousand bodies piled up I never thought would be enough To show you just what I've been thinking" She breaks up with her fiance and goes back to Gerard. He tells her about what he did, all the people he killed for her. He thinks that the reason she came back was because she knew he'd killed for her and finally understood his feelings.

"And I'll keep on making more Just to prove that I adore Every inch of sanity" He's going to keep killing for her to show how much he appreciates having her in his life. Now that she is his again, his mind is clear and focused instead of being run mad/blinded by rage.

"These hands stained red From the times that I've killed you and then We can wash down this engagement ring With poison and kerosene" Like I said, before he would kill the people and pretend it was her to take out his anger. Gerard has killed many, many people at this point. He will be discovered eventually. They cannot live a happy life together. So he suggests they should die together. Either one of them will swallow the ring, and they'll wash it down with poison and kerosene. "We'll laugh as we die And we'll celebrate the end of things With cheap champagne" They won't be sad about their death. They're finally together. She made the right decision. They're glad it's over.

This was just my take on the lyrics as I was reading them, aha. Beautiful stories, the main reason I love this band!

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
