This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
[The Misfits Cover Song]
Bonfires burning bright
Pumpkin faces in the night
I remember halloween
Dead Cats hanging from poles
Little Dead are out in droves
I remember Halloween
Brown Leafed Vertigo
Where skeletal life is known
I remember Halloween
This day anything goes
Burning bodies hanging from poles
I remember Halloween
Halloweeeeen
Halloweeeeen
Halloweeeeen
Halloween!
Candy apples and razor blades
Little dead are soon in graves
I remember Halloween
This day anything goes
Burning bodies hanging from poles
I remember Halloween

Little Dead are out in droves
I remember Halloween

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
i have loved this song ever since i saw it on a motorbike movie it is one filth song
Well, it was a great Misfits song, and this cover is just a great tribute to the The Misfits and to them themselves.
This song kicks ass. Its a scary as shit halloween night. Good job to AFI on covering this misfits song!
Yeah we went camping in the woods on halloween night 2001 and i played this and it was wel cool. we were all so fuking scared cuz we saw this guy drag this woman crying and screaming into this building, dunno if they were acting or not but it scared the hell outta us and we were all hiding behind trees for ages but nothin happened. sorry for telling my life story but this song really rocks, it just feels so ace to listen to, and the piano crashing bit is scary too on halloween but it goes on for too long i reckon. i love this song and the all hallows EP so much!!!! AFI RULES SO BADLY! so if you go halloween listen to this song and paint your face white like the crow or something and have fun. and have a fire ad lots of those little candles and stick them everywhere but dont put them on your head cuz then the wax drips down onto your head and gets stuck there, damn that was annoying, and my favourite mask got wrecked, and then my friend threw it on the fire BASTARD!! but i pulled it out somehow and it is nicely hanging on my ceiling above my stereo now. erhm for more of my life phone this number.....or talk to me on msn lol click on my name and get my email if you dare
ARGH. Once again, you shouldn't have put this song under AFI. It's a fucking cover song. (A damn good one, might I add.) But nonetheless, it needs to go under The MISFITS. Otherwise you'll get all these little kids thinking, "Oooh I love the AFI song Halloween! It is like, Soo totally rad!" And that just wouldn't be right. Sorry if I come off as being mean, I'm just...eh. I dunno what I am. Bitter I guess. :)
See, you could have at least added in the title that it was a COVER song that was originally done by the Misfits. But you failed to do so. That's why I'm angry. :: Shakes fist at you :: :p
Yeah but most people who've heard it already know that anyway. But yeah ok, lets just do this right now, PEOPLE: THIS IS A COVER OF HALLOWEEN BY THE MISFITS. AFI DID NOT WRITE THIS SONG WHICH IS WHY THERE IS NO WORDS FOR IT IN THE BOOKLET. there we go, no more confusion
great cover by AFI, sounds just as good-if not better than the original Misfits song (if it's possible to do a song of theirs better then them) a great tribute to the Misfits... AFI have outdone themselves once again
I think its better than the misfits version... and to do better than that is extremely hard!
Maybe not better...but just as good....
