"Over And Over" as written by and Boulding/beauvais/friedman....
Well, I went to a dance just the other night
Everybody there was there
I said over and over and over again
This dance is gonna be a drag
I said over and over and over again
This dance is gonna be a drag
I said over and over and over again
This dance is gonna be a drag

All at once it happened
The prettiest in the world
I said a-won't you come over and a-talk to me
And be my girl
I said a-won't you come over and a-talk to me
And be my girl
I said a-won't you come over and a-talk to me
And be my girl

She said she was sorry
And I was a little bit late
She would a-wait and a-wait and a-wait and a-wait
For her steady date
She would a-wait and a-wait and a-wait and a-wait
For her steady date
She would a-wait and a-wait and a-wait and a-wait
For her steady date

General CommentThe meaning of this song is basically that "if you're not one of the THERE people that you'll never get to be one of the THERE people! It is the story of finally having enough money to get into a country club dance and finding that most pretty girl he would like to know, but she knew she could only be seen with a guy that was from the country club crowd! (Everybody there was there!") and he would always not be a "there" guy to her and her family. She would wait and wait for her steady date!
Sorry to say, but if you're not born into status you can't ever get "there"!
