The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Don't walk away
See I just can't find the right thing to say
I tried but all my pain gets in the way
Tell me what I have to do so you'll stay
Should I get down on my knees and pray
And how can I stop losing you
How can I begin to say
When there's nothing left to do but walk away
I close my eyes
Just to try and see you smile one more time
But it's been so long now all I do is cry
Can't we find some love to take this away
Cause the pain gets stronger every day
How can I begin again
How am I to understand
When there's nothing left to do but walk away
See now why
All my dreams been broken
I don't know where we're going
Everything we said and all we done now
Don't let go, I don't want to walk away
Now why
All my dreams are broken
Don't know where we're going
Everything begins to set us free
Can't you see, I don't want to walk away?
If you go, I won't forget you girl
Can't you see that you will always be?
Even though I had to let you go
There' nothing left to do
Don't walk away
If you go, I won't forget you girl
Can't you see that you will always be?
Even though I had to let you go
There' nothing left to do
Don't walk away
If you go, I won't forget you girl

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
I absolutely love this song. It's like someone said, Painful but beautiful.
I really like this song. It's very different from Michael's other songs. It's about breaking up, heartbreak and broken dreams. He's disappointed and almost begging her not to end the relationship and walk awy from him. Beautiful and painful at the same time.

I agree with the theme of disappointment.<br /> Disappointed that whatever was supposed to never happened but he clearly understands to 'walk away' is neccesary even if he desperately wants her to stay with him.
i really think people are put off by the opening but this song is truly beautiful.
The entire Invincible album is full of sad songs that make me cry. They're beautiful, but sad at the same time.
It's actually about Diana Ross and his relationship .... because at that time they were going through arguements and most of Michael's songs are about Diana Ross because Diana was his one true love he loved her more then anything and anybody else including Debbie and Lisa
@brittanyti you are so right Brit it is about her....
It's about Diana Ross. She was the love of his life!! He tried to marry her for over 2 decades!
He begged and pleaded with her to marry him but she was afraid of the media who kept picking on her bcuz of the age diff. MJ even said in 93, that his love songs were for her!!
They were msgs to her. He and Diana talked thru music and had done that for years!!
MJ " Diana and I communicate thru Music, it's our favorite mode of communication...
MJ:. Diana and I sing in spirit we're always together, even when we're apart.... They sang tons of songs to EACH OTHER!! And MJ called' her the most important woman in his life! And " The One" .....
To me this song is about pleading for someone not to abandon and walk away from their family.
That's what Invincible was about! He was begging and pleading to marry Diana! And she was Invincible becuz she was embarrassed about the age difference... Go look at Invincible then go look at her CD blue u will see they match becuz they were tokens of love to each other!!
ITC was about her refusal to come out of the closet and admit they were lovers!!
MJ said all of his love songs were about HER!!
His life revolved around her! MJ's words at 96 WMAs She's MY WORLD, and I love her dearly!!
Moonwalk: " He called her his first love, and said: I've always loved Diana Ross, _ and I says will!!
Rock/roll Hall of Fame ceremony: He pulls her into his arms and says: I'm crazy about you!!
RTT album: Dedicated to Diana Ross with love
Greatest Hits album 04: Says, To Diana, I loved u in the old days, I love u even more now, I love you!
History album inset 1995: ( While still married to LMP!!) Has a large intimate picture of MJ and Di wrapped in each other's arms, with a caption that says:. To Diana with ALL MY love!! Then at the bottom, he wrote:. I love you Diana!!!
With Invincible, he sent her 6 copies and told her the CD was a token of love to her. She worked with him to make her CD identical and made it a token of love back to him!!
(( Just like he did with OTW sending her 6 copies and saying she was his inspiration!!))
He also had a shrine to her with 100s of pics/paintings Named his foundation after her. Publicity declared he loved her st award ceremonies, at concerts, in Interviews, in books etc ..( she the ONLY woman he ever Publicity showered with love/ adoration)
He was so devestated when she married Arne in 86 instead of him, that he cried for weeks, list weight, and had to take years of therapy trying to get over her!!
That's why she's the one he loved forever, and the only one in the will ( in the WIFEY spot!!)
MJ:. Diana Ross is the most important woman in my life, and I have never loved anyone as much as I love her ...
I love this song, both sad and beautiful. But the name of this website is SongMeanings. All it gave us was everyone who wrote the song and the song lyrics. I was hoping to find out who the woman was that he was singing the song to. BUT considering that more than a few wrote this song, perhaps they all had someone they lost, so maybe this song was written not just for one particular woman. But Michael sure sang it like he was singing to one particular woman he didn't want to lose.
