The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
I won't leave you out of my will
But I will leave you out of my mind
For now
I won't be there to break your sweet heart
But not being there might break your sweet heart
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
If I could cradle you into my arms
I would cradle you tight in my arms
Always
So don't be scared of all the hurtful words
Cause in the end, they'll hurt themselves much more
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
But I will leave you out of my mind
For now
I won't be there to break your sweet heart
But not being there might break your sweet heart
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
If I could cradle you into my arms
I would cradle you tight in my arms
Always
So don't be scared of all the hurtful words
Cause in the end, they'll hurt themselves much more
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy
You are my joy

Just A Little Lovin'

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

I think this song has a wee bit of a deeper meaning that just being in love with someone: "So dont be scared of all the hurtful words 'Cos in the end they'll hurt themselves much more" That to me seems like he's defending someone too, against whatever other people think. Well, I might be wrong, but it kinda fits in with me and my girlfriend anyway:-)
this song has such a great video, by the way!
such a good and happy sounding song but it reminds me of a parent having to leave their child: "I wont be there to break your sweet heart but not being there might break your sweet heart" also the not being scared of hurtful words
Still listening to this track, and years later, I can see it's clearly written about his child.
