Check the new car out in the mirror
Here comes the fastest man in the traffic jam
A major road rager with a bone to pick
I'll take another quick look and I'm over it
Right you're richer now weren't you happier
When you were shit out of luck
You've got so much but you've forgotten
It's more fun when you don't give a fuck
Tear it down to the ground
A lot of kids grew up in there
You put it up and then you made a ton
Well aren't you the lucky one
Right you're richer now weren't you happier
When you were shit out of luck
You've got so much but you've forgotten
It's more fun when you don't give a fuck

Check the new car out in the mirror
Here comes the fastest man in the traffic jam

A lot of kids grew up in there
You put it up and you made a ton
Well aren't you the lucky one

You've got so much but you've forgotten
It's more fun when you don't give a fuck (2x)

My favorite Bosstones song, and nobody has commented on it. What s surprise.

The first part is about how Dicky used to road rage a lot, but now he just lets it go because it's not worth getting bent out of shape over. However, the main point of the song is to stop caring so much about your materialistic posessions and stay true to your roots. It's about how some people stab people (esp. those they cared about) in the back just to get ahead in life. They may have lots of money now, but they lost all of their dignity. They sell out their morals to make a profit. I think the Bosstones are saying that if you just let your cares go and stop worrying about whether or not you'll make enough money to buy that nice house in the hills, you'll end up living a happier much more prosperous life. Maybe you won't have all the money in the world, but at least you won't be greedy dickhead.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
