"Your Star Will Shine" as written by and John Squire....
Your star will shine again one day
Through deep blue velvet skies
Shine for all the world to see
The universe in your eyes

When the storm outside is raging
And the dogs they howl your name
Lay down, sleep, I'll kiss you
Your star will shine again

Na na na na na na na na

Hush my darling, don't you cry
I'll stay by your side until morning
All through the night, I'll watch the skies

And your distant sun
Will shine like the gun
That's trained right between your daddy's eyes

General CommentThis is one of those songs where you lay back, close your eyes and picture something, a really lovely song albeit too short.

General CommentFor a while I thought it was about preparing to run away with a girl, away from her father. But then I realized that it was Squire saying goodbye, contemplating suicide. He is talking to his little girl while she sleeps, holding a gun to his own head.

My InterpretationSounds to me like someone who's child is dying and will become a star in heaven and the daddy is going to take his own life once the child finally passes away.

That's my happy interpretation for a Friday, you should hear what I think up on Mondays.

General Commentyeah i remember reading that this song was written for Squre and Brown's daughters, although not the best that the roses ever recorded, it still holds up as a good track over 10 years later
