The City That Day Lyrics
Too many drinks pulled the words apart
But I got your name, remembered it
Dumbfounded, I'm dumb as shit
I'm just glad I went to
The city that day
For some reason you're holding two coats
I asked you, "Do you need a hand?"
You said, "No thanks, I've got other plans"
I'm just glad I went to
The city that day
His next drink was the topic of talk
He said, "Give me something quick and sweet
My whole life I've lived on the street"
I'm just glad I went to
The city that day

such a happy song! Makes me smile :)

neat :D

love <3

fuck the cuty ...fuck the nypd ... the city is just there for fun

this song is so perfect.. just about being rejected in the city.. but he's still glad he went haha, i love skiba!

mmmmmmmm its so beautiful

Skiba is A genious with words. You try finding another artist who can write lyrics like this guy.

this song is actually about San Francisco and the first day he met his wife.

crash like thunder you are 100% correct. I was at a show in San Diego, and he was there with Chuck Ragan from Hot Water Music. He started laughing when he was introducing this song, and he said "wow. i felt like a fucking idiot". Haha. I love Matt. He is a lyrical genious, and should double as a comedian.

So the first few times I listened to this song, I agreed with you guys. It was how matt skiba got rejected. Then, after I read the lyrics, he wasn't really rejected.
I thought she was holding a coat for her and her boyfriend. Nope. She was holding a coat for a homeless man. "My whole life I've lived on the street". Also associated with drinking, homeless guy wanted a drink.
