Mom and dad they quite don't understand it
All the kids they laugh as if they planned it
Why do girls wanna pierce their nose?
And walk around in torn pantyhose, oh yeah

I like the ones who say they listen to the punk rock
I like the the kids who fight against how they were brought up
They hate the trends and think it's fucked to care
It's cool when they piss people off with what they wear, oh yeah

So give me one good reason
Why we need to be like them
Kids will have fun and offend
They don't want to and don't fit in

Hate the jocks, the preps, the hippie fuckin' scumbags
Heavy metalers with their awful pussy hair bands
Counting seconds until we can get away
Ditching school almost every single day, oh yeah

So give me one good reason
Why we need to be like them
Kids will have fun and offend
They don't want to and don't fit in

Give me one good reason
Why we need to be like them
Kids will have fun and offend
They don't want to and don't fit in

    This song always amuses me:

Don't hate us just because we're part of a group that thinks differently to you.

"Hate the jocks and preps, the hippie fuckin' scum bags Heavy metalers with their awful pussy hair bands"

Oh and by the way, we hate all groups that think differently to the way we do! It's so many alternative music fans at their core! If only this song was meant to be ironic...

Theres one thing this song is about. Being you. All those guys n gals who think theyre different coz they've decided 2 b a skater or a rapper. I'm not saying don't be a skater or rapper or woteva. but do wot u feel, not wot u think looks coolest.

They laugh at you because your different. You laugh at them because they're all the same.

i agree with lindsay. Who cares if someone likes nsync AND blink... lol i happen to! nar i like ta listen to the sappy crappy love songs nsync has hehe and backstreet boys too for that matter. And westlife (a uk boyband). There you go, I'm being completely honest with ya all, That's individualism. I'm not afraid to like blink and pop stuff because it's just what i like. If you think i'm a poser or whatev for liking blink, then fuck ya cos i don't give a shit. I've liked blink since i was 12 years old and bought dude ranch. I am now 16. I'm allowed to like whatever the hell kinda music i like. I also happy to love Nelly, and i reckon some of ja rules songs are pretty good too. Ok.... I'm waiting for the usual 'oh you poser, you dont deserve to listen to punk music'. Well bring it on, I don't give a shit, at least I'm not afraid to be myself. I'm who I am and I wear what I wanna wear, do what i wanna do and LISTEN TO WHAT I WANNA LISTEN TO. bak to da topic.... lol what song are we discussing again? Oh right.... yep this song is awesome. counting seconds until we can get away, ditching school almost every single day,oh yeah love that line. Anyways please people, keep an open mind, don't chuck a psych just cause someone likes a variety of music. That's what we call DIVERSITY. It ain't a bad thing either.

This song is amazing. I am totally bummed out that Blink has become popish... they were total punk before Enema of The State... but yeah, there still punk but more pop punk. That's my fav. line of any song too!!!! Its totally true... I can't stand all the preps, and jocks... but I have to admit I do like metal.. so I'll just go for the first line!

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing

Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
