Individually wrapped, placed in neat little rows
Becoming A piece, of everything that grows
Some numbers, A name, to indicate you played the game
Came empty handed and left the same
A soul is A soul and A shell is A shell
The border in between is full of everything you felt
Some cling to A cross because they're tired and lost
They leave it up to the weather to measure the cost
And everytime I look within I recognize the darkness
Familiar to the image of the artist
Staring at the bathroom mirror in A strangers apartment
Can't remember her name, don't remember how I got here
But here I am, thinking about death again
Humbles out the stress, helps the breath get in
I need to check my friends as well as my next of kin
To let them know I love them all to the end
And when the soul begins to reap, I think she'll know me from the sleep
I keep caught in the corner of my bloodshot eyes
And if she has the nerve, to let me dump a few last words
I'm gonna turn to the earth and scream "Love your life!"
Love your life, quite cliche but I guess thats me
A ball of pop culture with some arms and feet
As discrete as I've tried to keep the drama and cancer
It's no secret I hunger for someone to feed the answers
I never expected a bowl of cherries
I'm just a virgo trying to find my own version of the virgin mary
And when I let them carry me to a cemetary

I wanna be buried with a pocket full of clarity

(Chorus)
Now, how many times must you prove you're an angel
How many more demons do you have to strangle
How much longer must you remain in this dream
Before I finally figure out if you're insane or a genius

How many times must you prove you're an angel
How many more demons do you have to strangle
How much longer must you remain in this dream
Before I finally figure out if you're insane or a genius

Let no tears to fall from none of y'all
Just remember it all, the beauty as well as the flaws
L-O-V-E L-I-F-E
Here lies Sean, finally free
And as I look across the sea I smile at the sun
While it feeds the weeds the nutrition they need
The people still breathe, the city still bleeds
I'm going to love it to death and keep planting my seeds
I'm going to love it to death and keep an eye on the seeds
I'll be in love till im dead, I keep reaching the seeds
I'll give all I got left just to teach you to read
Love life to the death and keep planting my seeds
And when the soul begins to reap, I think she'll know me from the sleep
I keep caught in the corner of my bloodshot eyes
And if she has the nerve, to let me dump a couple last words
I'm gonna turn to the earth and scream (Love your life)

Slug, my favorite artist of them all!!! This song is extremely deep. "Individually wrapped placed in neat little rows. Becoming a piece of everything that grows. Some numbers a name to indicate you played the game..." I believe this is a metaphor for death. Individually wrapped=casket/coffin Placed in neat little rows=cemetary becoming a piece of everything that grows=being in the ground returning to nature some numbers (birthdate-date of death), a name=your name on your tombstone, to indicate you played the game=the game of life. There is an old saying, "We are the same six feet under." Whether you are king, queen, slave, poor, or homeless, we all end up in the same place. So, if circumstances and wealth are all different there can be only one thing to do that makes life worth living...LOVE IT!!! That kinda summarizes the song for me. But there is another thing I would like to talk about. Slug says, "Staring at the bathroom mirror in a strangers apartment dont remember her name dont remember how I got here..." Well, to me this is not him saying that he got drunk and had a one-night stand, to me it symbolizes birth. Who is she you ask? God. Her apartment is the universe. Thats all I wanted to say, I could write a whole book on the depth of this song. It just blows me away. I love Atmosphere.

Life Love Stress & Setbacks. That's what life is. He's basically saying that we're just a crumb on a loaf of bread. When he says he's staring at the mirror in a stranger's apartment..., I believe he's portraying how it feels to be in this world. Sometimes we all feel like strangers in a strange place. Weird huh. IDK maybe I'm just high

the song talks about death. in the first verse of the song, when he talks about numbers, he mentions leaving, "some numbers, an name, to indicate you.... came empty handed and left the same" that you left would symbolize death. this was the first atmosphere track i ever heard.. love this track... trippy.

this says to me that everybody is an individual in the end. no one can see inside of another person's soul thats why we're individually wrapped. you get some numbers, some names and everybody plays their game (with women). but he still came out empty handed (since lucy left him).

i thought "individually wrapped, placed in neat little rows" was a metaphor for birth. Looking in the window of the hospital room with all the newborn babies who are "becoming a piece of everything that grows" give them "some numbers, a name to indicate they played the game". I guess you could look at it both ways. I never thought of it symbolizing coffins, but that could really work well too. i dunno i just like the song and all of atmospheres stuff

I think it means everyone is born into the same world and your life can be amazing if you make it that way and you should appreciate everything you have, especially the small things in life. Very inspiring and I love this song!!

one ofhis best songs imo... but if you look at the last part startin with sean i think that pretty much explains it. Even though he doesnt want to keep going hes gonna be positive and love his life although he sees no point, and in the end, his existence will not mean anything. I think its as depressing as positive..

i think he may also be saying that he does not understand life but by the time its over he wants to, and maybe that is the reason why he keeps going.

My favorite line of all time "And when the soul begins to reap, I think she'll know me from the sleep I keep caught in the corner of my bloodshot eyes" no idea why...

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
