In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Sometimes I feel you're not listening
Sometimes I feel you don't understand
But I think I've got the answer
Already know what you're gonna say
â??Cause I'm just a little girl you see
But there's a hell of a lot more to me
Don't ever underestimate what I can do
Don't ever tell me how I'm meant to be
You say I'm just a little girl, just a little girl
How can I compare? What do I know?
What have I got to share?
But there's nothing in this world, nothing in this world
That could hold me down, can't you hear me?
Don't you understand
That I want to be myself, want to be the girl,
want to be the one that you can rely on
How I wish that you could see all there is of me
How I long to hear that you take me
For who I am
â??Cause I'm just a little girl you see
But there's a hell of a lot more to me
Don't ever underestimate what I can do
Don't ever tell me how I'm meant to be
â??Cause I'm just a little girl you see
But there's a hell of a lot more to me
Don't ever underestimate what I can do
Don't ever tell me how I'm meant to be

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
It explains everything about me, i think its really good
Terrible. Some people may see that this song depicts her frustration for independence as very in-depth... it is to an extent. However, I've seen other artists such as Angela Ammons ("Big Girl") and Jo Davidson ("Fragile Tough Girl") done this type of stuff a lot better. Amy Studt may think she has something new and profound, but it sounds like a girl who's trying to imitate singers she says on TV. With that being said, the song starts off pretty decent and clever but the wannabe-rock chorus destroys any of the intros false hope.
Actually i can relate to wat the singer is trying 2 say, i hang about wiv older guys who r maybe only a year or so older but they say ''naaa u dont know wat ur talking about ur to young or lil'' im 16 and it drives me mental when they say that
actually i think the song is pretty good......like the mix w/ the pop and rock.........i really like that b/c u usually just hear the pop and rock blended in and this song really diffrentiates the 2.
she isn't anything totally new or original, but it doesn't matter because it's GOOD. it's a good song, it has been done before but not by mainstream artists, and in some caes, not as well as this. AND she's only 16.
i dont really care whether her styles similar to others, or whether shes a wannabe! i LOVE this song and i can really relate to her being sick of being seem as a silly little girl, and every1 underestimating what shes capable of!
it took a little warming up to the song, but after hearing it a couple times i really liked it. now i can't get it out of my head!
i can really relate to this song! its totally how i feel................:(
ok the first thing i noticed bout this song is to tune, its really good. she sings really well too. n im not into the pop music and all but i really like some of the new lady singers they're doing really well but back to this song i didn't notice/ even know the lyrics untill like 5 times of listening to it. so u can say alota other ppl did the same thing better n thats all good and dandy but i like this one
I like this song because I can relate to it. It reminds me of my relationship with my ex-boyfriend.
