Day After Day Lyrics
Every day, my mind is all around you
Looking out from my lonely room, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
Every day, I feel the tears that you weep
Looking out of my lonely gloom, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
Every day, my mind is all around you
Looking out of my lonely gloom, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you

I had forgotten that George Harrison produced this song for Badfinger. Actually, I was mistaking it for a Beatles song when it got stuck in my head today. Leon Russell played the piano part in the studio version. He's from my hometown of Tulsa.
@Poetic_Mystique I too always thought of this as a Beatles song (along with No Matter What). In addition to George Harrison, Mal Evans (who was a road manager and personal assistant to the Beatles) produced a bunch of their stuff and they were on the Apple label.

George Harrison also traded lead guitar parts with Peter Ham if I'm not mistaken.
SoulMole....you are not mistaken. Very good!

Since I wrote the lyrics to this song back in 1971, (I was 17 yrs old at the time), Day After Day and sent it to a publishing company, they responded with a letter saying Peter Ham wants to use the lyrics to your song. I showed my father the letter at the time and he responded by saying: Don't waste your time sending this back, they just want money! I got so discouraged, I threw out the letter along with all of the songs I had wrote.
I had no proof that I had written the song and had to let it go. I remember my father saying what a fictitious name Peter Ham. They never mentioned Bad Finger as the Artists. At that time I didn't know who Peter Ham was, if they would have mentioned BadFinger, I would have signed the release form. I heard the song on the radio and knew all the words before they had sang.
Any feedback please email me at: ryarl@nyc.rr.com The meaning of the song was that someday I would meet this girl, who I call my wife Arlene.

Peter Ham, Tom Evans, Joe Molland were great artists along with the rest of the band BadFinger. I never get tired of listening to there songs. Peter & Tom, Ended there lifes, but there music will always be cherished and always will make you feel great inside when you hear any of there songs. They were one of the most talented groups of all time because they played with feeling and there heart.

I never knew the story of there tragic ending, until going online and read every article that I could find. In 1976 the band won there court case and received the well deserved money that they were owed. Peter & Tom were not there at court to receive there money, but I hope there well loved family were paid there share of the money that they deserved. Fame can bring some terrible endings to great stars, that put out 100% of there talent, only to get caught up with people who are greedy and selfish who control the money. I wrote the lyrics for day after day but do not have any proof that I wrote the words. It could have been a blessing that I never sent back the letter that I received from the publishing company. If I had the letter and proof that I had wrote the lyrics I would not want any of the royalties for the song, just reconition that I wrote the lyrics. Peters family deserve all the funds and more. You can't put a price on what they must have went through when they were on the top of there game and were broke, thanks to who ever was in charge at the time of there band.

You would think that someone who could write such an eloquent song, would know the difference between "there" and "their." I would also expect you to know how to spell "recognition." /now stop trolling around the internet and making shit up. Pete Ham wrote Day After Day.

Badfinger didn't last long enough to make their full impact on the world. So sad.

It's about a guy who has a girlfriend or wife and he wants her to come back from I guess some type of trip or maybe something like the Army. This has to be Badfinger's signature song!

about a guy waiting for his girl to come back to him after she went away somewheres.

I can't believe how little credit Badfinger is getting on this site... geez people come on!
Badfinger is about great lyrics that stem from simplicity, not hidden messages. It sounds like kfe2 is right... Badfinger songs are really easy to read on the surface.

George Harrison produced this big hit by Badfinger. You can certainly hear his influence in the guitar solo. Once again another gem with tons of Beatles inspiration.

beautiful and heartfelt a true classic

The song maybe implies that he met a girl who was like in plain sight or they had friends in common-"I remember fining out about you". And he is very attached to her,he wants her to come back and stay -"bring it home, make it soon"?? It's a song about attachment to me.
