In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Gray no petals no introduction
Gray matter for introspection
Water making and breaking seeming fine
Faith no martyr no resolution
Depth of water over our heads in
Breath restricted all suffocation
Breath

Breath
Breath
A trippy absolute
Eye tripping disease
No resolution
No auto save
Crave it matters
No fixed solution
No path crossed aging desert
Senic fixture and fixing
Wonder why
Goal neglected
Greed for negation
Rights affected
Last stop salvation
World objective equalization
Choice
Decision
No real division
Back burn

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
I was very inspired by ohGr they've given me alot of ideas for my paintings. This song in paticular really didn't sink in untill I was at the dock's and I was listening to this song I looked down into the sea and I saw this frog. It was looking around but not at me. Kinda of oblivous to my exsitence. It gave me this idea of this strange underwater world like another part of the world you would never understand. It's hard to explain the meaning of this song but if you seen the painting I finished you would understand the perspective I am trying to express if you would like to see this or maybe my ohter paintings email me at princetarble@yahoo.com
