"I'm The Man Who Murdered Love" as written by and Andy Partridge....
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?

He was begging on his bended knee
For me to put him from his misery
He hadn't worked at all this century
Said "I do a job for all humanity"

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?

I put a bullet in his sugar head
He thanked me kindly then he lay down dead
Phony roses blossomed where he bled
Then all the cheering angels shook my hand and said

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?

Oh! It's the middle of the song!

Oh! Yeah! Oh! Yeah!
I'm guilty! I'm guilty!
I'm guilty! Yeah!
And then I turned and said

There'll be no more pain from broken hearts
And no more lovers to be torn apart
Before you throw me in your dungeon dark
You ougtta film me putting statues up in every park

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?

So dear public, I'm here to confess
That I'm the one who freed us from this mess
Love won't be calling at your address
'Cause you've never had you'll never miss, I guess

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah! What do you think to that?

If you never ever use it
You know you're gonna lose it
If you never ever kiss it
How're you ever gonna miss it?

Yeah, I'm the man
I'm the man
I'm the man who murdered love

General CommentI can't believe no one's commented on this song! It's so great. Kind of a creepy pretense, but it's so catchy. It was on one of the first episodes of Gilmore Girls, I think. I love the part where he shouts "Oh! It's the middle of the song!"

    General CommentA few corrections:

THORNY roses blossomed where he bled (Phoney roses??)

There'll be NO more pain from broken hearts

'Cos WHAT you've never had you'll never miss, I guess

LISTEN to songs first instead of copying and pasting from other idiots, it's really not that hard.

General CommentAccording to the lyrics in the cd literature, it is "phoney roses"

Another correction is "your honour, they'll be putting statues up in every park", instead of "you oughta film me putting statues..."

No, it isn't hard to get it right, especially when all you have to do is copy from the damn cd booklet.

    Anyway...good song.
