In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
You son of man I am here as a witness
You son of man can't you see what burns inside me
This fire will consume as the flames purify
With the peace that passes understanding
This is my outcry
From dust to dust we will return
The flesh is temporary
The soul is eternal
Son of man can't you see
Son of man can't you save yourself
You son of man can't you see what burns inside me
This fire will consume as the flames purify
With the peace that passes understanding
This is my outcry
From dust to dust we will return
The flesh is temporary
The soul is eternal
Son of man can't you see
Son of man can't you save yourself

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Jesse Leach: "To the Son of Man" is a direct song to the people, and really the lyrics speak for themselves."
I love the spiritual aspect of Killswitch Engage's lyrics.
I just love the way this song kicks in instantly, it sends you deaf, its so heavy. Awesome.
this song kicks ass.
is it just me, or does it seem that a lot of killswitch has some quasi spiritual lyrics ? almost christian (i was one once)
yes, jesse leach is a very strong christian, and his music is influenced by that.
I love Killswitch. I think its a shame how they changed so much and are all about being radio friendly now. There amazeing and this whole CD has alot or value to me. I still listen to it all the time. This is probubly my faveoret song on it.
Just because they have a different singer doesn't mean they have changed "so much." Also, i don't understand why you think they have become "radio friendly." Maybe you have only listened to the title track and forgot about the rest of the songs on TEOH. Sure, it's not as good as AOJB but I don't think AOJB can be topped. Just because Howard's voice is cleaner than Jesse's it doesn't mean they are "radio friendly" as you put it. Killswitch still owns all.
kse is a excellent band even if they're cristians :)
AWWW my god this song fuckin owns........ fav killswitch song ever.... love the riffs.....and the singing......and the druming.......not to forget the bass.........
