This Halloween
So unlike any other
Her final words
Don't be afraid
Of the green light
Of the green light (green light)

On muddy ground
I'm lying drunk on her grave
Where I must wait
Until she wakes
The soil splits
Greenwood's ground will quake beneath me
And so shall take
Into the earth
To the green light
To the green light

The autumn air
Thickly fills my lungs so sweetly
Reminds me of her smoky breath
With wine and this
Bouquet of maple
And oak leaves
In death or life
We'll always be

I find myself drawn to her shadow domain

This moonlit night
Late October's swirling fog gloom
And as promised
My love did rise
From the green light

All I know is that this song is about the green light. (their symbol). So it could be about one of his loved ones dying and death must be the creepy green light.

Obviously, an intro with a praise for her dead bride. Why a green light? On the celtic past, the survivors from battles who die for seconds, talked about follow a green light to get back to life, then to die...a whit light.

This song is clearly about the return of the dead.

"This halloween So unlike any other"

Halloween is thought to be a time when the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead is thinnest, allowing spirits to enter this world. This halloween is the first one after the death of his love. Or it is the first one after he learned that death isn't the end.

"Her final words Don't be afraid Of the green light Of the green light Green light"

His love's final words, as she lay dying seeing what he could not, that she would be allowed to return. The green light is a creepier version of what she was seeing as she went "to the light" When she returns, the light, instead of being holy and pure white, is a more sinister green.

"On muddy ground I'm lying drunk on her grave Where i must wait Until she wakes"

On halloween, Peter's torched and nearly unconcious on her grave. Its been raining. he waits.

"The soil splits Greenwood's ground will quake beneath me And so shall take into the earth To the green light To the green light"

The beginning of his love's return. Her grave splits open and the earth begins to shake. We also see a foreshadowing of what the true "return" is all about. The earth itself (or more correctly Peter's world) is being drawn into the light.

"The autumn air Thickly fills my lungs so sweetly Reminds me of her smoky breath With wine and this bouquet of maple and oak leaves In death or life we'll always be"

The autumn air, is thick with the smells of autumn (in most places), decaying leaves, smoke, and moisture. This reminds him further of her. The wine itself tastes like autumn. (Some wines in fact to have a very "oakey" taste. ) Pete affirms that he wants to be with her forever.

"I find myself drawn to her shadow domain I find myself drawn to her shadow domain I find myself drawn to her shadow domain"

Pete is finding himself wanting to leave this life to be with her.

"This moonlit night Late october's swirling fog gloom And as promised my love did rise From the green light From the green light Green light

I find myself drawn to her shadow domain I find myself drawn to her shadow domain I find myself drawn to her shadow domain"

His dead love arose from her grave, to take Pete back to the world of the dead with her. This is probably Pete's last sight as he lay dying in the cemetary, either poisoned by the amount of alcohol he's had or dead by his own hand directly.

This song was utilised in Vampire Bloodlines(videogame from troika), for me seem a human waiting a gangrel Domitor(his bride?) arise from earth. Try take a look on world of darkness background.Autumn is perfect to describe vampiric condition of undead, and fist edition of Masquerade used to be green marble cover. So, under a creepy green light. But is only my theory.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
