You say you don't like the way we look
Well fuck off
I ain't some dying dog that you can kick
So fuck off
It's so easy to fall into that hole
And you're the one who cast me in that role
If you loved me would you call me a social parasite
And who's the one to tell me whether it's wrong or right
You say you don't like the place I live
Well get out
There ain't no vacancy in my bed
So get out
It's so easy to fall into that hole
And you're the one who cast me in that role
If you loved me would you call me a social parasite
And who's the one to tell me whether it's wrong or right
If you loved me would you call me a social parasite
And who's the one to tell me whether it's wrong or right
(1, 2, 3, Go...)
You say you don't like the way we look
Well fuck off
I ain't some dying dog that you can kick
So fuck off
It's so easy to fall into that hole
And you're the one who cast me in that role
If you loved me would you call me a social parasite
And who's the one to tell me whether it's wrong or right
If you loved me would you call me a social parasite
And who's the one to tell me whether it's wrong or right

This is definately ABSOLUTELY in my top 3 favorite Alice in Chains songs. The Chorus probably has my favorite vocals harmonies of all time. I agree with how its about being falsley judged , i also think its about leaching off of another persons popularity, and that if you like someone and you care about someone who was less popular than you. Would you still love them if it meant you would lose your other friends as well as your image?

It's about being branded and people's natural ability to create stereotypes. J. Cantrell is basically saying "Fuck off" to all of those people. Maybe they judge upon appearance, or character/personality, either way it is all the same. Great song, one of the best unreleased songs of AIC.

Yeh this is a underated AIC tune from the music bank boxset. Agree with the above comments, it seems the tune's bout being a outcast or different and treated unfairly in society just cos someone is different. Kinda relevant to times today

Some parts of the song seem to be about a relationship gone sour. Maybe she got tired of him being an outcast? So he says "You say you don't like the place I live, well get out."

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.

Of Mice & Men
This track is about is about questioning why the sky would choose to be blue if it had the choice to be anything else, “blue also meaning sad,” states frontman Aaron Pauley. “It's about comforting a loved one in a time of loss by telling them you feel blue, too.”
