Who gave you permission to rearrange me
Certainly not me
Who told you that it was alright to love me
Certainly, certainly not me

I was not looking for no love affair
And now you want to fix me
Was not looking for no love affair
And now you want to mold me
I was not looking for no love affair
And now you want to kiss me
Was not looking for no love affair
And now you want to control me
Hold me

I know you're trying to get creative with my love
And that's alright, but
You tried to get a little tricky, turned my back
And then you slipped me a mickey

Certainly, certainly not me

The world is mine
When I wake up
I don't need nobody telling me the time

Who told you that it was alright to love me
Certainly not me, no way no
Who gave you permission to rearrange me
Certainly not me, oh no no

I was not looking for no love affair
And now you want to fix me
Was not looking for no love affair
And now you want to mold me
I was not looking for no love affair no no
And now you want to kiss me
I was not looking for no love affair no
And now you want to control me
Hold me

You're really trying to get creative with my love
And that's real cute, but
You tried to get a little tricky, turned my back
And then you slipped me a mickey

Certainly, certainly, certainly not me

The world is mine
When I wake up
I don't need nobody telling me the time

Certainly, certainly, certainly not me (I wasn't looking, was not looking for no love affair)

scarlett letters - I don't think Erykah Badu tries to be all "cool and in charge" in her songs. She's just real. I've heard her sing about her own weaknesses, her insecurities & trying to be a strong woman. But anyway, I don't think the mickey line is to be taken seriously, she's speaking metaphorically. I took it as the man took it too far in trying to seduce her - not literally putting a mickey in her drink, but in her life.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
