So after all these one night stands
You've ended up with heart in hand
A child alone
On your own
Retreating
Regretful for the things you're not
And all dreams you haven't got
Without a home
A heart of stone
Lies bleeding

And for all the roads you followed
And for all you did not find
And for all the things you had to leave behind

I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
All I ask of you
Believe
Your childhood eyes were so intense
While bartering your innocence
For bits of string
Grown-up wings
You needed

But when you had to add them up
You found that they were not enough
To get you in
Pay for sins repeated

And for all the years you borrowed
And for all the tears you cried
And for all the fears you had to keep inside

I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
And all I ask of you is
Believe

the penultimate song from Streets a rock opera and the final song. It wraps up the story but has no defining connection to the main character DT. it is one of savatage's best and most beautiful songs. i agree with the above statements also. this song has such feeling in it. it shows how DT was able to rise up above his past and become a better person. he believed. in the end, 'Believe' is a musical masterpiece and one of the greatest songs in existance...All I ask of you is...Believe

This song is just awsome...it pulls you up from a shitty day because after all it's about believe and faith....not christian faith but faith in general..... it could be the faith you have in your wife or your gf.

If you see the song WHEN THE CROWDS ARE GONE you'll notice that the words are pretty similiar in the end of both song although each one of them talks about a different subject.... that shows how the same words put in different context can have two different approaches.

    My Interpretation

One of my favorite songs of all time.

So after all these one night stands You've ended up with heart in hand

D.T. became a crash and burn Rock Star. Never finding his heart fulfilled in the indulgence of nightly women.

A child alone On your own Retreating

Like a child he has to fall and make mistakes while fake friends are always there to take advantage when you're on top but never there when you're down so he finds himself alone and becomes introverted.

Regretful for the things you're not And all dreams you haven't got

In his rise to stardom he left people behind, his true friends and regrets not being there for them being blinded by all the fame. Once his fame and fortune is taken from him he is left with nothing to replace it with except a life of addiction.

Without a home A heart of stone Lies bleeding

Truly losing everything and hitting rock bottom he is left vulnerable but open for help.

And for all the roads you followed And for all you did not find And for all the things you had to leave behind

The nemesis voice that plays in all our minds plays especially heavy on D.T. and is a constant reminder to D.T. of his bad choices and everything he's lost.

I am the way I am the light I am the dark inside the night I hear your hopes I feel your dreams And in the dark I hear your screams Don't turn away Just take my hand And when you make your final stand I'll be right there I'll never leave All I ask of you Believe

The Chorus in this song is the Ally in D.T.s mind representing the hope and acknowledgment that D.T. needs. It's the part of D.T. that is always with him but fear, doubt, insecurity keep D.T. from seeing it as valid part of himself. It is the friend he left behind. But like a true friend, this mental ally endures the same emotional journey D.T. endures. All the pain, anger, and hurt. and constantly cries out to him. Never giving up on him.

Your childhood eyes were so intense While bartering your innocence For bits of string Grown-up wings You needed

This mental ally tries to remind D.T. of his wild eyed childhood curiosity for life. He needs to get that back again. Find new purpose.

But when you had to add them up You found that they were not enough To get you in Pay for sins repeated

D.T.s mental nemesis tries to creep doubt and hopelessness back into him. Tries to tell D.T. that it's to late for him and that there is no redemption. The he's lived to sinful of a life.

And for all the years you borrowed And for all the tears you cried And for all the fears you had to keep inside

D.T.s mental ally is telling him that it doesn't matter what sins he's committed, what kind of life he has lived or even what deep dark secrets he may have.

I am the way I am the light I am the dark inside the night I hear your hopes I feel your dreams And in the dark I hear your screams Don't turn away Just take my hand And when you make your final stand I'll be right there I'll never leave And all I ask of you is Believe

Even after all that sin and bad choices, this chorus, once again is the ever present reminder that all he has to do is forgive himself and know that he deserves and can have a wonderful life All he has to do is "believe"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
