All alone in the dark
No walls no windows
Trying hard to define
Heaven from hell
Standing out in the rain
With just one shadow
Nothing to see or believe
Beyond myself
See my life going by
Each moment I am alive
I keep reaching out, holding on, hoping

Somewhere in my life
There's one light burning
I feel it like my heart beating inside
Somewhere in my life
There's one light burning

All alone with my fears
No words are spoken
A story yet to be told
Locked in my mind
Hope is somewhere ahead
Shining brightly
But the past is always following close behind
See my life going by, each moment I am alive
I keep reaching out, holding on, hoping

Somewhere in my life
There's one light burning
I feel it like my heart beating inside
Somewhere in my life
There's one light burning

Somewhere in my life
There's one light burning
I feel it like my heart beating inside
Somewhere in my life
There's one light burning
Leading the way, leading the way

barely any comments on richie sambora at all! he is way underrated, and both his solo albums (Undiscovered Soul and Stranger in this Town) are absolutely amazing. For anyone who doesn't know, Richie is the lead guitarist of Bon Jovi, but neither of his solo albums are in the style of Bon Jovi. Very soulful, bluesy....absolutely love his stuff. this is one of my favorites off of SITT. the vocals are great, as are the lyrics.

Completely agree. He is totally underrated, only the guys who have played with him say how amazing he is. He can do Anything on an instrument with strings. When listening so Bon Jovi songs you can shut everything else out and just dissapear in his guitarsound. His solo albums are just simply soft. They are totally different from the Bon Jovi stuff, and as much as I dig Bon Jovi, this fits him perfectly.

I agree with you both. Richie is so underrated! Most people don't know about his solo work, which is sad. I've made it my mission to introduce people to his solo work! This song has got to be one of my favourite songs ever! I love it so much! It's just so beautiful.

Listen to the lyrics, let them burn in your heart. I have heard this song countless times and the words penetrate me like an arrow to my soul. It gives so much consolation and hope, it is amazing. This song is in my All Time Top Five Songs. I cant remember hearing a song that makes me feel like this! Awesome! Inspiring! Consoling!

I also agree that Richie is underrated! I am a HUUUGE Bon Jovi fan and luv all their stuff! Everytime I haar Richie doing a solo in Bon Jovi songs, I just lose myself in the power of his playing. I am now a big fan of Richie's solo stuff! Normally I don't listen to this type of music, but Richie's voice and lyrics and guitarsound just reach out to me and get to the very core of my being. I really "feel" his music, as I do Bon Jovi music, too! Awesome song! Awesome guy!

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."

Zombie
Cranberries, The
"Zombie" is about the ethno-political conflict in Ireland. This is obvious if you know anything of the singer (Dolores O'Riordan)'s Irish heritage and understood the "1916" Easter Rising reference. "Another head hangs lowly Child is slowly taken And the violence caused such silence Who are we mistaken - Another mother's breaking Heart is taking over" Laments the Warrington bomb attacks in which two children were fatally injured on March 23rd, 1993. Twelve year old Tim Parry was taken off life support with permission from his mother after five days in the hospital, virtually braindead. "But you see it's not me It's not my family" References how people who are not directly involved with the violence feel about it. They are "zombies" without sympathy who refuse to take action while others suffer.

Anti-Hero
Taylor Swift
I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Never actually understand, even if they try, because all they see is you, on fire, screaming about the arsonist that no one ever sees, and who has been spreading lies about your alleged mental instability, deceptive personality, etc. the whole time. While the last thing survivors need is more blame, our society supports a narrative that blames the objectively innocent party because the blatantly guilty party has spent their entire lives fabricating a persona and we’re just being human, and human psychology is quite counterintuitive especially in the context of trauma. Look at Amber Heard. Vilified and not believed, regardless of what any abuse survivor could recognize as a fellow survivor instantly. But Johnny depp is a malignant narcissist, a man, and wealthy as all get out. It’s sick.
