Staring At Your Window With A Suitcase In My Hand Lyrics
i love this
this song is killer... the first verse somehow makes the whole album immaterial, but then i LOVE the whole album...
you will know that love is pure only when it is gone,as the cliche goes...
it sounds like somebody that he dated, but this person only dated him because she liked his fame.
love this song....huge fan of the album overall!
Geez if I had a dollar for every time I found myself in this song ... well I'd still be poor and starring at windows with a suitcase in my hand :-) There's a lady I'm crazy about, she works a few blocks from me, sometimes I visit on my break ... everytime I walk to and from I'm "starring at her window" (no suitcase), I finally asked her out on Saturday but she indirectly said no ... I get the feeling it'll be too awkward for us to be friends too ... "my boots just keep on walking" but this time I don't know where I'm walking too and why - I drank enough to drown and smoked enough to suffocate, but haven't had a hangover yet and I don't even smoke or really drink :-) It hurts, I know she deserves better than me, but we're really good for each other, both trying to get out of our situations - she's a lot further than I am, I suppose we're a "Tommy and Gina" ... but that was the 80's I guess :-) I really think Jonny wrote this song for a couple who's relationship is finally over, one has to leave but has the feeling of a prisoner who's just been released and doesn't know what to do on the outside ... The couple have a relationship where one is always getting hurt but the one who does the hurting really does love the one that they're hurting, be it themselves or their partner - but all things come to an end ... When you stay in a place for too long, you become it - it's hard to start over, but I suppose if we eventually get it right we'll appreciate what we end up with so much more ... I love this lady, I've never had this kind of feeling for anyone else, but I know that it's the right place but the wrong time, perhaps in another life, until then "starring at your window with a suitcase in my hand ..."
