Welcome to the abandoned land
Come on in child, take my hand
Here there's no work or play
Only one bill to pay
There's just five words to say
As you go down, down, down

You're gonna burn in hell
Oh, burn in hell

You can't believe all the things
I've done wrong in my life
Without even trying
I've lived on the edge of a knife

Well, I've played with fire
But I don't want to get myself burned
To thine own self be true
So I think that it's time for a turn

Before I burn in hell
Oh, burn in hell

Take a good look in your heart
Tell me what do you see?
It's black and it's dark
Now is that how you want it to be?

It's up to you
What you do will decide your own fate
Make your choice now
For tomorrow may be far too late

And then you'll burn in hell
Hear no evil, don't you
See no evil, don't you
(Oh, burn in hell) lay no evil down on me
You're gonna burn in hell
Speak no evil, don't you
Think no evil, don't you
(Oh, burn in hell)
Play with evil, 'cause I'm free

Hear no evil, don't you
See no evil, don't you
Lay no evil down on me
(You're gonna burn in hell)
Speak no evil, don't you
Think no evil, don't you
Play with evil, 'cause I'm free
(You're gonna burn in hell)

Hear no evil, don't you
See no evil, don't you
Lay no evil down on me
(You're gonna burn in hell)
Speak no evil, don't you
Think no evil, don't you
Play with evil, 'cause I'm free
(You're gonna burn in hell)
Hear no evil, don't you see no evil
(Oh, burn in hell) don't you lay no evil down on me
(You're gonna burn in hell)
Speak no evil, don't you think no evil
(Oh, burn in hell) don't you play with evil, 'cause I'm free
(You're gonna burn in hell)
Hear no evil, don't you see no evil
(Oh, burn in hell) don't you lay no evil down on me

Okay, so a lotta people have compared Dee Snider with the likes Christina Agulara, but listen to their actual songs and you will see they are nothing alike (they are authentic musicians, unlike Agulara).

Anyway, yeah, this a pretty damn good song. One of their best!!!

As to the meaning: We decide our fate in the choices we make, and we'd better figure it all out, if that's what we want, before it's too late (before we die). Then it's down, down, down. lol

It seems like someone who's had a really bad past, who's realized his mistakes in his old age, is warning someone younger who's going down the same path. They'll either head his warning or they'll choose not to, but in the end, it is their choice.

Just that. It's a warning. We all choose our fates. One of those fates just happens to be to BURN IN HELL.

And dude, next time I hear this song, I shall think of your ex.

This song can be easily be a Christian song since Dee Snider is a Christian. The beginning part would be the voice of a devil, and then it goes to say... You can't believe all the things I've done wrong in my life Well, I've played with fire, but I don't want to get myself burned To thine own self be true, so I think that it's TIME FOR A TURN BEFORE I burn in hell

In other words, turn your life around, stop doing bad things before you die and burn in hell.

Take a good look in your heart, tell me what do you see It's black and it's dark, NOW IS THAT HOW YOU WANT IT TO BE? It's up to you, what you do will decide your own fate Make your choice now for tomorrow may be far too late

There it is again, your heart is dark and Dee Snider is questioning your actions. There is a choice of how to live, for tomorrow may be far too late. And then it goes into the chorus....

Hear no evil, don't you See no evil, don't you Lay no evil down on me Speak no evil, don't you Think no evil, don't Play with evil.

For Dee Snider to speak about getting away from evil is a positive message. The idea of Hell is in the Bible, since Dee Snider is a Christian person. This song is saying, stop doing evil before it's too late, before you die and burn in Hell.

This is not the first Christian song they made. The Song 'Sin after Sin' off of their 1982 'Under the Blade' album. Sin after Sin lyrics has some similiar lines with 'Burn in Hell'

Sin after Sin - "You must open up your eyes before you're burning deep in Hell"

And of course they have the Twisted Sister Christmas and the song 'O Come all ye faithful' couldn't be anymore Christian than that. It's a good song too.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
