On the street where you live girls talk about their social lives
They're made of lipstick, plastic and paint
A touch of sable in their eyes

All your life all you asked
When is your Daddy gonna talk to you
But we're living in another world
Tryin' to get your message through

No one heard a single word you said
They should have seen it in your eyes
What was going around your head

Oh, she's a little runaway
Daddy's girl learned fast
All those things he couldn't say
Ooh, she's a little runaway

A different line every night
Guaranteed to blow your mind
See you out on the streets
Call me for a wild time
So you sit home alone
'Cause there's nothing left that you can do
There's only pictures hung in the shadows
Left there to look at you

You know she likes the lights
At night on the neon Broadway signs
And she don't really mind
It's only love she hoped to find

Oh, she's a little runaway
Daddy's girl learned fast
All those things he couldn't say
Ooh, she's a little runaway

No one heard a single word you said
They should have seen it in your eyes
What was going on your head

Oh, she's a little runaway
Daddy's girl learned fast
All those things he couldn't say
Ooh, she's a little runaway

General Commentthis is really a good song...and i dont think its about prostition...i think its about a girl that, yes lived a spoiled life, but daddy didnt give her time...so she picked a diff kind of life...a fast paced life....men, the streets (NOT PROSTITUTION), partying and looking for a man to love her (the kind that her father didnt give her), not just use her...and looking back on it all, she "THINKS" her daddy should have just known that-- "they should have seen it in your eyes"......i could be wrong, but thats just my thought....

General CommentIs that what this song is about? I've often wondered exactly what this was about for sure. Bon Jovi is my favorite!! but idk what every single song means. anyway, this song has a great beat and its fun to rock out to

General CommentI think this is about the lack of communication between father and daughter. The daughter runs away and is caught up in all sorts of shit simply looking for the love her father wouldn't give her.
    And yeah the song rocks

General CommentMy guess is it's about prostitution. "lipstick, plastic and paint" suggests this. Then "Daddy's girl learned fast All those things he couldn't say ". He couldn't say he loved her and she learned "love" from an early age. The rest of the song implies prostitution except for "So you sit home alone
Cause there's nothing left that you can do
There's only pictures hung in the shadows
Left there to look at you" which would be about the father.

General Commenti think this song talks about a girl (obviously), whos father never listened to her and never paid enough attention to her. "Daddy's girl learned fast
All those things he couldn't say" means that because the way her father was, he could never tell her that he loved her. He probably lied to her alot, and that the parents should have noticed that she was tryin to tell them. but they wouldnt listen. So she felt that she had to runaway from everything, and she thought that was only way she could get back at them. This song Rocks, its one of my favorites from Bon Jovi.

General CommentThink it's pretty telling, that the chorus changes at the end of this song, (listen, and you'll see what I mean). By the end, the lyrics are: "Daddy's girl learned fast, now, she works the night away"
So, I definately always thought that it was about prostitution.

General CommentIn my belife, you are all wrong. It's about a teenage girl who wants to go out on her own/with her friends, unescorted by an adult but her parents won't let her. She is sick of hearing the stories of other girls her age talking about how they have all the freedom in the world to go where they want without their parents, or any adult for that matter. When it says "They're made of lipstick, plastic and paint" it obviously means she obviously wants to wear make-up, fake nails and all of that junk, but again isn't allowed to do what the other girls her age are allowed to do. She probably also wants to swear, but not allowed when it says "Daddy's girl learned fast
All those things he couldn't say"
There are many refrences in the song when it talks about her trying to tell her parents that she wants to be liberated in all the aspects I have listed above, but never could, so she created a world of her own, which she lives talking to herself about how she feels and she was communicating with people she made up, bhoping one would one day come to life and to her parents the things she never had the courage to tell them, but is very disappointed that this will never happen. In the end she ends up running away from home, but everyone was wandering why she ran away because she couldn't handle it any more, and everyone was wandering what was going on because she never appeared sad
which is why it says "No one heard a single word you said
They should have seen it in your eyes
What was going around your head" and she could (obvioulsy) no longer get income from her parnets

General CommentContinued from previous (soory, it was getting annoying scrolling up and down automatically) so she had to get a job where she works all night just get maney to buy in order to survive.
If you don't belive me, keeping my theory in mind, re-watch this (look at the screen, don't just listen to the sound) then tell me if you belive me
    youtube.com/…
I often feel the male version of this without the rnning away bit

General Commenti see it every day, the stereotypical suburban girl who's parents buy her love with cash but don't pay enough attention to her. Eventually she's out sleeping with the football team and snorting coke on mommy and daddy's tab.

General Commentthis is a great song, it is one of the best of bon jovi's enormous amoount of excellent songs, the slow live version is just as good as the original version if not better as it adds more meaning to the song.
